Is this the correct extractor for the MKIII?

Is this the correct VQ extractor for the MKIII? MidwayUSA's website is a little confusing on that point.

Volquartsen Exact Edge Extractor Ruger 10/22, 10/22 Magnum, Mark 2, 22/45

Yes, the extractor hook is the same part for all the Ruger semiauto rimfire models. The spring included is just for the 10/22 rifle and you must reuse the spring that is on the plunger in your Mark III pistol.

Is this a worthwhile upgrade? One of my Mark III's jams once in a while due to the empty casing remaining in the action (but out of the chamber) not allowing the next round to feed from the magazine. Would this extractor solve this in your opinion?

MK70ss, to me for a $12 part it's money well spent if you are getting jams.
Extractor needs to hold the bottom of the casing against the bolt face to eject properly. Now I can shoot just about any ammo with no problems in a pistol that was jamming probably once per mag before the enhancement.

The VQ extractor is worth every penny. Typically they clear up most all ejection problems, and I have yet to replace one for being worn out. I certainly can't make that claim on the OEM part.

Re use the factory spring as the spring that come with it is for a Ruger 10/22 auto loading long gun.

Timely post for me. I went to order the Volquartsen extractor from Midway tonight for my Ruger Mark 3 and I also was confused. Midway only carries the Volquartsen p/n VC10EE exact edge extractor and states it fits both the Ruger 10/22 and Ruger Mark 2. But if you go to the Volquartsen website, they show 2 different exact edge extractors. A p/n VC10EE for the Ruger 10/22 and a p/n VC2EE for the Ruger Mark 2 and 3. That almost implies that VQ has a different extractor, one for the 10/22 and one for the Mark 3. Or it's the same extractor, just their way of tracking sales? I thought about giving VQ a call but with it being the holidays, I'll have to wait. Based on what has been posted here, I'm going to order the VQ p/n VC10EE from Midway.

Midway may have them labeled separately for inventory control, or they may have the 10/22 spring out of the package for the Mark IIs. Take a look at this web page Rimfire Sports & Custom They have the same extractor labeled as both part numbers. The extractor hook is the same for both models. The package will come with a warning label affixed saying to reuse your extractor spring because the one in the kit is for the 10/22. This vendor also offers free shipping.

Bullseye, I went to the Rimfire S&C website you indicated and I see that there, they do indeed show both VQ part numbers. Right after I posted, I sent my order in to Midwest and I had some other items to order from them anyway. But, I did put Rimfire S&C into my favorites for future consideration. Thanks for clearing this up.

The difference is just in the packaging. The VC10EE has the spring included and the VC2EE just has the extractor claw. RS&C just packages them together and then places a warning/disclaimer on the packaging about the spring in a Mark II/III.

Well I replaced the stock extractor in my Mark III with the VQ ExactEdge model. It went in easy enough, took about a half hour total to swap out. I am gonna shoot a bullseye match tonight and see if this solves my ejection issues with this gun. Cross your fingers, Don't want any more alibis......

The first time you replace an extractor it can take a while. After a few times your elapsed time is down to just a minute or two. If the extractor was causing the problem the VQ extractor will solve it.
