I really appreciate the info because I'm not hording my .22 ammo-I'm shooting it. It's about all I can afford to shoot in quantity these days. As an aside, I seriously doubt .22RF ammo (and Guns) will be affected by the incoming Administration. Just look at California, they don't have any special rules for .22RF Weapons as I recall.
My Walther P22 would be illegal in CA. The barrel nut can be removed to expose the threaded end.

Well, I guess you got me on that one.
I wouldn't live in a State that jacked. It's a beautiful place to visit though.

I'm glad some people feel that way. Half the world wants to live here as it is.

Well it's been five weeks since my last post (just above). I bought some ammo from 22ammo.com. This fellow in Georga has a good variety. I got 500 Winchester Power Points for $34, and 325 Federal Auto Match for $16. The shipping seemed a bit high at $17, but I do live on the opposite coast in California.

Since the site doesn't have anything like Amazon's "Where's my stuff?" icon, I began to feel a little nervous after a couple weeks of silence, so I called him and left a message on his answering machine, asking him how my order was coming along. He didn't return my call. The ammo arrived yesterday, three weeks after I ordered it, probably not bad nowadays.

Anyway, if you don't mind his cut-and-dry business style, this may be a good place to buy your .22 rounds.

I shoot a lot of CCI Standard Velocity and buy most of it at www.midwayusa.com the trick being to wait for the sales and then buy enough to tide you over until the next sale. The shipping charge is fair, especially if you make sure to buy any other shooting related items at the same time. One other ammo to try is a brick of RWS Rifle Target which is in several of my barrels even better than the CCI SV, but is more expensive though not in the $$$ realm of the match class fodder. Regards

Hey the real KAZ needs a cookie, Bear had his morning cookies.
earlier and is now on guard duty, with his head under the bed. I buy a lot from Midways USA as the stores around here do not have much of a selection. My local dealer always makes me a good price on what he stocks but as I said the selection is poor. I have a couple of 10'22's that shoot either the Fiocchi #22CRN marked LSP on the box and Eley Sport, both around 2.50/box if you buy a brick.
You have great day and shoot straight and may the Good Lord smile on you.

bearandoldman, I was out at my range yesterday and the owners Dog Bud was looking at a cookie that had just been offered. Bud was very unhappy and was displaying same. I asked Wayne what Bud was upset about and he said that Bud knew that there was a bag of Puparonie on the counter, and he considered the cookie a ripoff  Now, KAZ would have eaten the cookie, and then put it on you for the Puparonie 8) I'm going to try the Fiocchi #22CRN because it works so well for you. Is it standard Vel? Regards

Bear would have taken the cookie and if anything else was available that too.
Actually the #22CRN is high velocity 1245fps and Eley Sport is Standard at 1085, but my 10/22T will also shoot he CCI Blazer very well, the DSP likes the Fiocchi or the Eley and the old 4 digit walnut carbine and the newer one seem to like CCI SV if my memory is correct and that can be doubtful. Last Tuesday it got almost up to 60 degrees and we got in some shooting time and Bear did range cleanup. They had a muzzle loader fun shoot last week and the use a lot of edible target like medium size dog cookies and crackers, so Bear cleaned the target areas and went home happy. H ere is a target I shot last summer with the DSP and the Fiocchi.Image

Just did some checking on old target pics the T is the only one that shoots the Blazer well, all the guns do well with CCI SV, Eley Sport of the Fiocchi about equally well, target was rested at 25 yards.
You have great day and shoot straight and may the Good Lord smile on you.

Dwight, when you order your ammo you should try a brick of the RWS Rifle Target to see if your barrels like it. Regards

First an update! KAZ was having some hip trouble last week, and I'm pleased to report that that you can tell his internet pal Bear that he is much improved :D I must confess that the subject target is shot with my Annie MPR. The reason for posting a rifle target was due to the fact that my 41 also loves the RWS Rifle Target, and I'm not going to tell it that it is rifle ammo :P Regards

Bear and I are glad Kaz is feeling better. My daughter has 2 Golden's one is 12 the other has hip problems due to being hit by a car a few years ago and she give them both glucosmine? and it helps them a lo. You may want to look into that for your friend.
My target a couple of posts ago was also shot with my rifle, a bone stock Ruger 10/22, other than trigger work by my local smith and a foam pressure pad under the barrel about an inch back from the forend. No way I can shoot that good with a pistol. Maybe 30 years ago, but aging eyes and body do take a toll on the accuracy. Got to look up the targets but did shoot some great groups with my scoped Great Eight in the past, rested at 25 yards.
You have great day and shoot straight and may the Good Lord smile on you.

That's excellent advice on the Glucosamine, he has been on it now for a month(actually, me to :) )and I do believe it has helped. With the promise at 50 yds I moved out to 100 and ran out of elevation on my Weaver 6X20 Grand Slam which I will solve with a rail with 20 moa built in. This target shows the four shots trying to get adjusted and then the five shot not to bad first group. I was afraid to make any adjustments until the new 20 moa rail comes in. Regards

Looks good, the real KAZ must be proud of yoiu, maybe the real AZ will give you a cookie. I shoot 25 yard mostly. Now and then will try 50 but not very often, may give 100 a shot some time this Summer, if it ever gets here. That DSP shoots pretty good. When you put on that rail will you be able to come back toa 25 yard zero? Don, know much about them. According to my ballistic charts with my line of sight 1.8 inches above the bore, 25 and 50 are almost the same, as the bullet is going up at 25 and down at 50 in relation to line of sight. V\Chart say another 5 to 6 minutes will get me to a10.
You have great day and shoot straight and may the Good Lord smile on you.
