Volquartsen MKIII Trigger

Installed one of the new Volquartsen MarkIII triggers and sear in a KMKIII512 and am very pleased with design. You can adjust the trigger for both pre-travel and over-travel from within the trigger guard (very nice design and feature). The trigger width is also now narrower than the trigger guard and feels just right. A number of guys at the range tried it out and could not believe how smooth the system felt (trigger/sear/new springs). We measured the pull at just a shade over two pounds. So far I've shot two Bullseye League matches with no reset problems.

That is outstanding Rich. A very nice report. Those VQ parts have increased the confidence you have in your Mark III to the point that you're competing with it.

Yeah, a very nice trigger.
After a bit of grinding and polishing I managed to put one in a MK11 and I think it is the best trigger I've seen so far.
Looks like Nik did his homework on this one. The width and contour are a lot better(to me) than his other triggers and the offset pretravel adjusting screw is a nice touch.
Now if he will just get one out to fit the MK11.

Boomer47,

Now I may be wrong and misunderstood a recent reply from Nic at Volquartsen, but .... I wanted to order a custom made trigger for my KMKII678GC, just like the new one for the MKIII. Nic's reply said no custom work is necessary and to just order another MKIII trigger. If anyone would know it's Bullseye as to whether it would work in the MKII?

Regarding your need to custom fit the trigger in your MKIII; Bullseye warned me ahead of time to make sure the new MKIII trigger doesn't interfere with the internal linkage. Although I was prepared to do this, the new MKIII fit like a custom machined "Glove". Dropped right into place with just the right amount of clearance. w/r to Stack Up Tolerances, I must have lucked out with my trigger well dimensions.

The flat area on the back of the trigger hit the frame at the rear of the trigger guard on my MK11678GC and would not allow the trigger enough rearward movement to release the sear. It took a good bit of grinding to get it to fit.
Maybe my frame is a little out of specs.
In any case, I agree with you that it is a fine trigger.

Boomer, your Mark II's frame isn't out of specs. The trigger slot on the Mark II version frame isn't cut as long as the one in a Mark III. As you found out when you installed the new Mark III VQ trigger, there's about a 1/8 to 1/4" difference. The length of the Mark II's frame slot difference isn't readily noticable until one tries to fit a Mark III trigger into it.

I really did not think my MK11 frame was that far out of specs. It takes a lot of grinding,not just a few thousandths, to fit that trigger into a MK11 and I don't know why Nik is saying it will fit a MK11 without modification.He told me the same thing. Maybe someone else will come along who has tried the trigger in a MK11 and we'll see what he says.
As I've said before though, it is a fine trigger once you get it installed.
