22 rifle scope and semi auto
Hello, Everyone:
I am hooked on shooting the 22s. I first tried with my friends' Ruger Mark II, then Marlin 17 shots semi auto rifle (forgot the model already). I recently bought a Ruger Mark III hunter (see my question in Rimfire Pistol Forum) and a CZ 452 America. I really like the CZ a lot. I have a cheap BAS Sweet 17 scope on it and it shoots alright for 25 yard. I want to have a better suited 22 scope on CZ. Would anyone be able to recommend a scope that is a much better quality and in medium price range? I tried a friend's 24X scope, I would not be able to find the target. I would think 15X would be the max I want to go, maybe variable power up to 12X would be enough for me.
I spend 250 on the rifle and would like to spend max 500 on the scope (not more).
Also, please recommend a semi auto 22 rifle.
Thank you very much. Looking forward to hearing from you guys

Have you looked at some of the Simmons scopes? I just put a Simmons "22 Mag" series 3x9-32AO on my Browning .22 Auto. I don't know what magnification you are looking at....but for general target shooting and rabbit or squirrel hunting, I have had good luck with that range of mag. in the past. I am looking forward to shooting this one...and it was only 60 bucks on sale!!
Welcome Digou!
Admitting your adiction is a giant step toward recovery!
I'll second Desertrat's opinion of the Simmon's .22 Mag series scopes with one caveat:
The Simmons Company which was owned by Blount Inc made an excellent scope for rimfire known as the .22 Mag -1022T, 3X9X32AO.
Unfortunately when the Simmons Company got "spun" in the meltdown, Meade Optics took over and in my opinion the overall price and unfortunately quality suffered proportionately.
The former scope retailed for $118.00 and was worth every cent.
The Meade Optics version is much less (59.00) , comes with rings and is a lesser quality product. That's not to say it isn't a serviceable scope but just not what many of us rimfire addicts had come to appreciate.
If I were buying a scope for general hunting and some target shooting I'd opt for

You don't have to spend more for a good scope for your rimfires. But I recommend one with an AO = adjustable objective.
My experience with BSA has been very poor...... nuff said!
As to a good rimfire auto loader for my $$$ it's the Ruger 1022 with it's bullet proof rotary magazine. Simply the best value in semi auto shooter today. Whether they are left stock or transformed into target shooters with the endless supply of aftermarket goodies available today ....the 1022 is more fun than I can adequately describe.

You'll find plenty of qualified help here without the commercial self serving product hype.
Enjoy the experience of learning about the many great rimfires.
It's all fun!

Digou, I think you'll come to love your CZ 452 American. I know I love mine! Here it is with a 6X18 variable that's a store brand of the gun shop I do business with. I believe I paid about $130 for it. You should have no trouble finding a good scope in your price range. I put an Automation Solutions adjustable sear in my CZ with the matching light trigger spring and the pull is about 8 oz. I've also pillar bedded it and it will do .25 in. groups at 50 yards all day long, with the right ammo, of course.

I've got a 4.5X14 Mueller on my CZ .17 and love it. A lot of scope for the money.
This guy has the best price I've found and ships quickly.

+1 The avp is the best bang for the buck I have used. It's as clear as my $700 Leupold, and holds zero fine on my 10/22.boomer47 wrote:I've got a 4.5X14 Mueller on my CZ .17 and love it. A lot of scope for the money.
