New Toys!

Now that my family and I are settled in at our new ( to us ) home in Alpine, Texas, I can go ahead with the second stage of my plan, which is to set up a gunsmithing shop for my son Charles ( Min-Me ).

At my age, I think it's best to set my 21 yr old son up so that he can take care of the family ( and himself ) if something happens to me. To be honest, I kind of like being retired, I've put in my time at the salt mines and have the T-shirt, etc..

I am in negotiations with a contractor for a 24x24' building in my backyard, and have purchased a gun safe to satisfy security requirements for my son's application for an FFL.

The fun toy part is a video borescope from Gradient corporation.

The thing will let us take video or still-shots of the interior of a rifle or pistol barrel from a straight-ahead, or 90 degree view.

Upon receipt of the borescope, I discovered that it had an analog video output ( RCA plug ) , but no way to hook it up to a computer. There was a analog to USB converter available from Gradient, but it cost over 400 bux so I looked around on eBay and found a comparable unit for 25 bux that looks just as good.

I'm looking forward to playing around with my son's new toy, and wonder how much we should charge for that service, in hopes that the do-dad will eventually pay for itself.

I could hook it up to my TV I guess for a quick test, but I think I'll wait for the analog S-video to USB converter and its software to arrive.

Sorry about the image quality, I'm still learning how to use the equipment. It does videos too, but they are too many MB's to show here.

After I took these pictures, I figured out how to focus the camera. ( Duh! )

The software lets me burn vids and stills to a DVD or CD, which is what I'll do for customers.

Now I'll finally get to know what the barrel on my muzzle-loader looks like. - If I dare!
