Does the Weigand rail attach by replacing the rear sight? Is it better than the rail that comes with MKIII Target models?
The reason I ask is that a couple of weeks ago I picked up a Leupold M8-4X pistol scope at a yard sale at a price I just couldn't refuse. Figuired I'd get some scope rings and move the Bushnell Trophy red dot on my Hunter to something else. Picked up a set of Burris rings this morning and couldn't get them on. In fact, it was almost impossible to get the base screws back in once I got theme out. Took the rings back to my favorite shop and they couldn't find another set of rings of any type that would fit the Ruger and the Leupold. The store was packed, so the clerk told me to leave the pistol and he would mount the scope next week. The rings doubled the price of the scope, so now I'm into big bucks.
If the Weigand is better that the stock, it certainly might be worth looking at. I never had any problems with putting red dots on the Hunter and thought the scope would be a no brainer. Found out differently.

Greener,
You kinda lost me here. Do you mean the base that came with the MK111 will not fit your MK111? Rings won't fit the Ruger base? Is the Leupold a 30mm scope?
I've never heard of a problem with putting a regular 1inch scope and almost any brand of rings onto the base that comes with the MK111 unless you are talking about the base that came with a MK11 Target in which case you need Ruger rings to fit the base.
The Weigand base fits into the rear sight dovetail and makes a fairly solid mount but I don't see why you would need it.

greener, At first I was scratchin' my head llike boomer but then I thought back to a set of Burris' I had which were too tight to fit on to a standard Weaver rail. It's not the rail but the rings if it's like mine.
I called Burris.....they told me to carefully tweak (spread) them enough to go. They said they would replace them if I had a problem. either way.
I barely spread them, I think with a screwdriver and now you know the REST of the story!
I think this is more common than they'd like to admit!
Someone else here may chime in with something contrary but that's my story.
