Sure a .50 cal revolver is enough for that cuddly little bear? I'm thinking more along the lines of Ma Deuce
After shooting 350gr Hornady XTP's out of my 500mag, I would think it would stop "anything".
The 500 mag dwarfs a 44mag round. It is a round that would literally stop any living
thing walking on planet earth. Check out Ranger Rick's Tyrannosaurus Thumpers,
700 gr of complete destruction, that grizzly is just a little pussy cat ! :

Got all the roar and big recoil I need. I'll stick with .45 colt and .38/.357
I'm with Hak, .357 has always been my limit, or .44 Special.
I'm with Hak also.

That thing will kill on either end.
You have great day and shoot straight and may the Good Lord smile on you.

you kids are crazy
if I want to launch 700 grains of lead down the two-way range I'll just stop what I'm doing and figure out what combination of loads will do it
...
... ...
...
... ...
Obviously 6 rounds of 110 grain .30carb from the M1 Carbine comes to 660 grains, and fire off a 40 grain round of .22lr if that doesn't do the job.
Or 3 x 230 grain .45acp plus a .177 pellet
Too bad 4 x 185 grain .45acp+P gives you 40 grains too many

I just enjoy firing the big bore stuff once at the range to say "I did it".

I'm good up to 44 mag, any thing greater than that I don't know. Now if I had a chance to shoot a 500 I probably would just to say I did. Like shooting a 458 cal rifle. Shot one have no need or use for one to get one.
There's a big reason they say to try before you buy........

That is excellent advice. Although, it can be difficult finding one to rent, or somebody who has one.
I still like the gun, and it would be neat to have one. I would say there is about a 10% chance I would get another.

Way more revolver than I can handle. .44 mag is my stopping point.

.357/.44 and.500 mag loads were never meant to be fun shooters but to get a job done and carry certain bragging rights also. You got to be a real men like Harry to shoot up BG"s while eating your lunch with your free hand, By the way punk, I lost count, was the 5 or 6 round I fired? I GOTS TA KNOW!!!!!

Harry was shooting .44 special
I think there was a big jump in S&W M29 sales just after Dirty Harry. Then there was a big jump in second hand M29's and dresser storage just after they fired the most powerful handgun in the world.

Harry said he was shooting the most powerful handgun in the world and Harry don;t lie. Actually he was shooting movie blanks. S&W could not have come up with more advertising promotion if they had tries to do it on their own. Sure sold a lot of guns for them.

For the life of me, I can't understand how they can shoot guns on tv without
wearing hearing protection. Secondly, how come the bullets shot on tv never
hit any innocent bystanders? I just don't understand?

550 Fed Value Pack, Walmart $18.95. Only the best for my deadly precision shooting.
