Do you carry around the house, if you have CCL or not?

As the topic ask on conceal carry.

I do or at lease have one with end reach? I know many who when they get home remove their gun and holster and lock them up. I can see that with small kids around but I think it's better to educate them so you can have it near by if needed.

Several years ago there was an armed robbery down the street from me. I'm in a pretty nice neighborhood that has a lot of elderly and recently young families. Happened during lunch and their son came home for lunch and walked in on them in the middle. Luckly they did not harm him. And in the news lately their have been robberies where the bad guy knocks on the door to see if anyone is home before proceeding to break in the back. It has also showed that one who did not answer the door had their back door knocked in which presented another problem, home invasion/armed robbery. The local is advising the public to answer the door but not to open it. Which is the proper way, never open the door on a stranger.

Being retired/disabled person I will look to see who's at the door then decide if I need to see them, they can not see me most of the time. My gun is on my side hidden from prying eyes if I answer the door.

Just would like to know what others are doing.

Have a couple readily available and ready fore use. Can see my front door from my favorite chair, if I do not recognize the person at the door, I have bee known to open the door with one hand with a pistol in the other, ready for use if needed.

I tend to agree with BAOM on this one. I'll just say that not every firearm is stored in the safe. My most vulnerable location to be in the house is in the little "necessary" room, but that is covered too. (It's hard to pull up ones drawers while running toward protection, besides, I can't run anymoe

) The 'toy room' has a key lock on the door if needed when the grandkids come as well as the safe, plus my kids and all the grandkids know the situation and my kids have done a good job of educating and training the grandkids on safety, etc. The youngest grandkid has his own Red Ryder that lives in my house until I'm certain (with his mom's blessing) that he can be trusted with it by himself.

I don't carry around the house but have a gun or two stashed in easy to get to places for me or my wife (if I am not home). I have little kids but the guns are put waaaay out of their reach. and they know not to touch, for now (I hope the 4 y/o remembers that!!! he wants to know haw EVERYTHING works!).

I'm either in a fortunate situation, or dumb. In the two years I've had my CCW, I've only felt a need to carry a few times. I don't leave anything available in the house. I have to undo a key lock and open a door to grab a loaded pistola.

The main benefit of my CCW so far is just knowing I can carry, and it lets me buy more than one handgun a month.

I carry at home at all times. Don't move fast anymore so I like having the pistola handy on my hip.

Question of the day, how often do you have a spare tire in your vehicle? only if you expect to have a flat?

A lock box in the closet... so far

locked on the top shelf.... If I kept marshmallows in there he would find a way......

Sometimes I carry around the house, but usually I keep two concealed...one at each end of the house, so that I'm never cut off from access to a loaded handgun. When I have kids around, I lock them up and hope they aren't needed.

I don't carry around the house, but I do keep a cocked and locked 1911 with in close reach. I make it a habit of tucking it into my waist band behind my right hip when answering the door, unless I know for a fact who is knocking.

You answer the door for strangers pretty much the way I do, except I keep it in my hand behind the door and out of sight.

Armed home invasions are in the news here from time to time. I do not carry all of the time, but I do keep a 45 around for answering the door, and have handguns ready to go, hidden at opposite ends of the house.

My Mossberg 500 12ga. is currently down for repairs, so I am depending more on the handguns than I usually would.
