How many Mark (I, II, III) do you have?

I have 3 MKIII, Hunter, stainless 5.5 bull barrel, blued 6 7/8. The Hunter get the most attention from people on the range.

7 MKII. KMKII678CG, kMKII678 Tapered Target, KMK512, KMK10, MKII 22/45, MKII with MKIII 4" TARGET UPPER, KMKII 6" STANDARD and a 6" Standard. Also have 2 Browning Challanger II and a High standard Sport King and A High Standard Military HD. 1 Taurus TX22. 3 Ruger Single sixes and a Wrangler. 1 Bearcat.

I have five personal Ruger 22 Autos from the Mark I through the Mark III models. I work on too many to count.

I have 4 Mark ll's. Also have 2 blackhawks, and 1 single-six. In my opinion, just about the best value for your money going. It's strange, but I've never had one of their center-fire auto's or a 1022.

One less than I need/want. That could be a permanent situation no matter how many I have.

Ah, Greener! How true, how true! You percieve the problem but, unfortunately, have no solution! As for myself, it's that way with all guns!

Ah, but the solution is easy. You keep buying them until you get the one you need/want. Of course, "she-who-must-be-obeyed" mutters something about another gun. With my artillery ears I can't quite clearly hear every word, but I assume she thinks I need another one. She has also muttered something about learning to shoot the ones you have. Told her I knew how to shoot it, then she muttered something about hitting things. I told her I needed another one to do that.

Yep, pretty much the way it is at my house. The CEO of the mansion has asked me on occasion why I need so many guns. I usually slow her down a little by replying with the question "why do you need so many pairs of shoes"!

I've tried "well, your son and son-in-law" have more guns than the old man. Doesn't seem to work. At least she hasn't said anything about the two new fishing rods I added in Feb, or asked about the price. Life is rough when you have to make a choice between going to the range or the lake. So far, I've been avoiding her comments on kitchen, bathrooms, wall paper, walls, etc, by telling her to tell me what she wants and I'll get started.

I only have two MKIII's (Hunter and 22/45). I've been looking for a MKII GC or 22/45, but haven't seen one that hits the combination of mood and price.

How many rods and reels and luures do you have.
We were at a local outdoor shop, you may have herd of it when you are were in Michigan, it started out as asmall bait shop in the latee 40' and has grown considerably and is still owned by the family of the founder. Frank's Great outdoors up by Linwood. Well as we wee walking through Ma spotted all the 1,000's of lures aske if all those bright colors relly helped catch fish, told her I was not sure if they did but they sure do catch fisermaen and fisherwomen too,

If you count, you are not serious. I think I have about 15, I'd have to go look. Lures are the same. I have a bunch that were guaranteed to catch the fisherman and, having done that, don't catch anything else.

I fish for the enjoyment of being on the water in the great out of doors. I rarely keep any fish. Never keep any large fish. If I keep fish, I keep only a couple smaller ones for dinner.

My shooting is much the same. I go for the enjoyment. I don't fret over not being able to always shoot tight groups in the center of the target.

Translation: I go fishing a lot. I don't catch many fish. Those few I catch are small. I go shooting a lot. I can't hit the broad side of a barn.

You got the right idea there Rob, if it ain't fun don't do it anymore. Started to shoot registered sporting clays tournaments years ago, everyone was too serious and whining about the minute differences in target flight because they missed and the other guy did not. Ran some registered shoots at my club and after there was a big cheating accustion going on about a guy who sot late in the shoot and only with his wife as a witness wont the shoot by a target of two. Well that the the end of my registered sporting clays and that club also. To cheat to be first place and the total winnings were less that hundred bucks is not very honest.
Seems to be most of them are a bunch of fairly well paid ego tripping snobs.

I, also, shoot for the sheer enjoyment of it. My pistol shooting is pretty much limited to practice with my .45 and 9mm that I use for self defense. As long as I can put them all in the center-mass kill zone of the silhouette target at 7 yards, I'm satisfied. I'm not a bullseye shooter and never will be but it doesn't hurt my feelings that others are much better than me. The only time I get semi-serious is when I shoot my .22 CZ at 50 yards. I'm constantly looking for that one ragged hole for 5 rounds, knowing full well that I'll probably never see it, but again, it's not the end of the world for me if I don't. The rifle shooting is mostly about tinkering anyway such as the pillars I just put in the CZ (can't wait to get to the range to try it). But that also is just for my own satisfaction.
By the way, Greener old buddy, I think you may be being a little overly modest about your own shooting abilities.

At 7 yards, a good police swat instructor told me that if you can civer a fulll magazine group with your outspread hand, that is good enogh. I am trying to get under 1/8 center groups of 5 shots at 25 yards with my Ruger 10/22T, but if I don't it's no biggie either.

for defense, I thought the idea was to spread 'em out a little...
if you shoot the perp in the same hole over and over your not RE-wounding him.

now THAT's a good five-shot "group"...
