Mark III mag release

Post by shelby1941 » Sat Jan 08, 2011 7:11 am

I recently purchased a Mk III Talo hunter and have put in the Clark bushing, a VQ sear and trigger along with a LCI filler piece. No problem at all with the mods, everything works as it should and the pistol functions as it should. I do have one minor aggravation that I would like to fix and would like some advice on. Magazine ejection is as it should be and the mags literaly shoot out when released. My problem is when inserting the magazines perfectly straight in everything is fine but if inserted at a slight angle where the top of the mag leans towards the right side of the grip frame it hangs up on the mag release. I'm wondering if there is any left to right adjustment to the mag release or if a few careful strokes with a file will be needed. Thanks in advance. Shelby Chastain

Without actually inspecting this condition, I cannot say if yours is operating other than normally or to suggest a remedy that removes any metal, this could affect the latch's ability to do its job properly. Generally when inserting a mag I depress the release button until the mag body is actually under the release. This prevents the feed lips from hanging up on the mechanism if inserted off angle. Once the body is under the release latch, I can then slide the magazine upward until I get the clicking lock sound that confirms the magazine is latched.
