Ruger Mk-III 22/45 w/Volquartsen Acc Kit

Post by Cal516 » Sat Dec 18, 2010 1:23 pm

I installed the Mk-III Acc Kit and Titanium Disconnector plus a Mk-II bushing and removed the Mag Disconnector on my 22/45RP.

The trigger pull is WAY to light ... can't even begin to lift a 2 lb weight.

I guess I will reinstall the Mk-III bushing & Mag Disconnector and see if that helps. Any other suggestions? Perhaps go back to the factory trigger plunger?

Did you install the complete kit, hammer, sear, trigger ....

If so you may want to back up to the factory sear and see it that helps. The original trigger plunger spring will raise it about 4-6 more oz.

VQ use a different angle on the sear/hammer (more relaxed) than the factory setup.

I would leave the Clark MKII Bushing in. It did not impact the trigger pull, but more feel. It's the springs and hammer/sear angle that lowered it.

I kept the factory sear spring as recommended by Volquartsen. The Mk-II bushing is a (loose) Volquartsen, not the (tight) Clark - its sole purpose was to permit removing the Mag Safety. I installed hammer, return plunger & spring, sear, and Titanium Disconnector (which is not part of the kit).

I think my first try will be reinstalling the Mag Safety but I doubt that will have much impact. Then the factory plunger spring. Do you think I should put the factory plunger back in (vs the polished Volquartsen plunger)?

If it was me I would install the Factory trigger plunger spring and check it, then the sear. Or hammer then sear. The sear has a more relaxed angle when compaired to VQ. In most all cases the sear alone will drop it down into the 2.0-2.5lb range.
