Had an odd thought yesterday. Something reminded me of a hitch-hiking stint I did back in the early eighties (long story, and I met a previous wife that way). I realized that if I did that now, and planned a route right, I could hitch-hike most of the U.S. carrying concealed. Some places would still require a long detour.
Seems comforting and a little weird, both. I can't imagine planning room in my backpack for a cleaning kit and ammo.
I'm too old to hold up to hitching now, and so many crazies out there I wouldn't try it unarmed, anyway.
Made me consider truckers and others who travel the country in their work. There is a great example of why a national CCW permit would make good sense. I have a Commercial driver license that is honored in every state, why shouldn't gun permits be?
