If you are the Guv of Texas, it's a Ruger LCP with a laser.

just outside one of the busiest parts of the city, coyotes have killed pets,
and been seen wondering all over the place. Them, foxes, and dogs are
my biggest fears when I go out for a walk. I always carry when out on
my walks. If I see a coyote posing "any" threat, "down he goes". I live
on a sliver of woods with a creek running thru the sub, perfect for critters.
They could have rabies as well.

Gov Perry was in the outskirts of town when he shot that one. I have them in my neighborhood, here in Plano,TX. See them quite regularly. One morning they were in my neighbors yard across the street, stood about 3' tall. There is a creek that is not far from my place, we get possiums and coyotes all the time through here looking for food. There's are always reports of small dogs and cats that come up missing. It does make the local news from time to time. There have been reports of a black panther out where my dad lives, piny woods of east texas.

I've seen Coyotes on our land up in Vilas Cty. (WI) but they're wary of humans and always give me the sneer and lope away. About a decade ago we had an active fox den and we were convinced a bobcat or lynx was close by. The DNR kept dismissing locals reports of the same info...
My bro from MO has to strap on a hip holster when he steps on the tarmac at the Gen Av terminal. When on the road things are a bit more troublesome!

I Live just north of Milwaukee (Ozaukee co) and i have a Great Dane. He's a big boy. We live in the suburbs.
One night we went out to go (my dog) go pee.
A coyote was across the street. He snarled and paced back and forth while we were out. My pup is 3 times his weight and the coyote wasn't scared. That was a rude awakening. I now have a shotgun with #4 shot inside the door. I'm not worried about Luca(the Dane) but I am worried about our 25 lb Cocker.

Around here they only report of dogs and cats <10lbs disappearing. The Cocker I owned thought it was a person it very seldom would leave your side. Unless you ashed her if she wanted a bath, then she would go hide. Outside she would play in the sprinkler but did not like baths. Would not chase any thing but loved to play ball. But she had about 10# on your Cocker and proabably 2" taller at the shoulder. Our vet said she was the largest he had seen, and yes she was the runt of the litter.

Got em too in south west Ga. of coarse. The lands I hunt I see one or two a year so Im not gonna alert every deer in the woods of my presense to waste em. If u start seeing em in packs then their a problem for your deer. but killing em can get out of hand and its our responsibility to manage em and not over terminate em.
