After spending 6 weeks jumping through hoops, I got notice to report for work Monday.
Judging by the uniform issue inventory, they're gonna let me carry a gun too! I wonder which pocket I'm supposed to keep the boolit in?

It takes a while, the government never moves quickly. You've been patient and now you will soon achieve your goal. Congratulations and remember who your customers are because they're counting on you to provide them with the very best support.

Well, about like I expected.
LOT of training (There's three ways of doing things: The Right Way, The Wrong Way, and The Navy Way) and getting this ticket and that ticket punched.
Plus, a security clearance is required to get into the compound, so there's all the bureaucracy connected with that.
The actual job is a cakewalk. Issue weapons and ammo, and complete the associated paperwork. Collect weapons and ammo, complete the paperwork. Count weapons and ammo, complete paperwork. Clean weapons and...
I will be going to the range this week and qualifying on the M9 (Beretta 92) and the M500 (Mossberg trench gun)
Kinda weird being associated with the Navy again after being retired for 20 years. It's a changed outfit, for sure. I spend a lot of time biting my lip and keeping my mouth shut.
The schedule is going to take a little getting used to. 4 on and 3 off is going to be GREAT once the weather breaks, but 3 days off in single digit weather is kinda frustrating...

The routine can be slow at times but think of the alternative.

Oh, I do, TRUST me.
And with a max pay raise (counting night shift premium and benefits offset) of nearly 70%, it don't take much thinkin' to make me grin like an egg-suckin' possum...

Congrats!!
I'm still unemployed & would jump for the oppertunity to work within the Military & to clean guns..
The M9 is a great weapon & very easy to arsenal for with just a few punches & a screwdriver..
Keep biteing the lip till you've got it all figured out..
Have fun & dream of all the extra "Gun Money" your gonna have..

Everyone should be blessed with a job they can enjoy. Too many of us just work for the money, as there is little or no pleasure. You're in an enviable situation, for sure.

Not to rub it in or anything like that (much...

) I spent the day at the range yesterday.
Had to fire three courses with the M9: Navy Handgun Qualification, Practical Weapons Course and Night Fire, and one course with the M500.
6 hours on the range, goobermint ammo, got PAID for it, and lugged off all the ammo boxes and brass I could carry.
Life is good...
