Does it get better or worse farther down the line?
You have great day and shoot straight and may the Good Lord smile on you.

Must get better. I'm the product of intense effort of two grandmother's, my mother, 6 aunts, one sister, a wife and three daughters. Hard to count the number of woman-years invested. Young greener has fewer woman years invested so far.bearandoldman wrote:Like Father, like Son, like Grandson, oooooooh noooooooooo!bgreenea3 wrote:that would be awesome!!!! your grandson might throw it through a window though.....greener wrote:Yep. I read the article, very informative about the introduction and acceptance of the M9 into the Military and public mediums.Just read this piece from the American Rifleman on the 25th anniversary of the M9 as the main military service pistol. http://www.americanrifleman.org/Article ... 18&id=2000
I recall bits and pieces of the trials and some of the conversation about them at the time. I didn't recall that DOD did its darndest to get some other, American, manufacturer. This is an interesting read on the trial process. I recall reading stuff by COL Cooper who was vehemently opposed to going away from .45 cal.
Since the Reserves were on the tail end of the new equipment issue, I didn't see an M9 until the 90's. We had new M9's and our older than dirt 1911's and more than enough ammo for qualification on either or both pistols. I couldn't hit squat with the M9 and the 1911 was a comparative tack driver. That afternoon soured me on the M9 and 9mm in general. I have a couple of 9mm pistols, but they are not my favorites by far. I've fired a couple of Beretta 92's. Very decent and accurate shooters. Still have problems getting over my first impressions.

I purchased a Beretta 92FS back in 1993 or so. I don't know how many rounds I have put thru it mabee 10 or 12 thousand. The only time I ever saw it fail is when my old girlfriend was limp wristing it. I gently took it from her hands and emptied the magazine without a problem.
Extremely reliable and accurate in my experience.
I like a 1911 in 45 soooo much more. I don't like the controls on the Beretta. I have to adjust my grip to reach the decocker/safety.
I usually just plink with it. I never carry it since I like a 45 or 357.
Just my opinion.
Thanks for listening.

p226 is better
There's something about the grip on th Berretta that I don't care for, I never really cared for the 92/96 the controls are horrible too....IMHO the Sig p226 is a much better gun, very comfrotable grips, decock only and in a great place to weep it with your thumb without changing your grip, and Very accurate for a service pistol.
I guess that's why I have it for sale, I can not seem to get comfortable with the grip. I shot a Glock 34 the other day, and I actually could hit the target consistantly at 50ft, something I can not do with my Beretta. Although, the Beretta has won several competitions for it's accuracy. I think it's just a matter of ergonomics for each individual. As for the controls, I love the way the Beretta is layed out, and I love the decocker/safety on it. Some people think just the opposite about these features. Go figure? There's something about the grip on th Berretta that I don't care for, I never really cared for the 92/96 the controls are horrible too
