Mark 2 1/2 ?

Post by ruger22 » Sun Nov 22, 2009 9:34 pm

I had a thought at Gander tonight. They had a Mark II stainless bull barrel in the case for $359. I considered the possibility of buying it to swap some parts with my Mark III.
Mark II top and hammer bushing on my Mark III lower. Then assemble what's left and trade or sell it. The remains would basically be a Mark III with a grip heel mag release and Mark II magazines. A real mongrel that probably no one would want.
The Mark II had a target trigger, not sure whose, and a scope mount that fit around the receiver and above the rear sight, not sure who made that either. Nice gun on it's own.

Everything will swap over just fine if you decide to go that route.

I like keithj's thoughts on having two guns.

Your MKIII w/out mag disconnect and replaced LCI is pretty much a MKII with grip mag release and a filled slot in the receiver.
