Is the MKII & MKIII Recoil Springs the Same?
As the topic says. I think I read some where they were. I was needing to order one for my neighbor's MKIII and was going to order a spare for my MKIII. Brownells does not list MKIII in there parts list.

That's the way to go. If it's broke then fix it, if it ain't broke it don't really need to be fixed.Bullseye wrote:I cannot say. I don't replace these springs on a schedule, I only replace the ones that feel worn out. It doesn't happen very often.

That one way at looking at it.
My neighbors MKII has less than 2k rounds through it, all 40gr MiniMags. There is no tension when you drop it in the bolt. His bolt is very easy to pull back. When he tried mine he could not believe the difference, greater than 2-3x. There are only 2 springs that put pressure on the bolt, the recoil spring and main spring. Would you change both or just the recoil spring?

Can't see how anything could be worn out with that few rounds. Try sing s trigger pull scale, just feel does not really tell much.Bullseye wrote:Hammer cocked or uncocked? Both guns in the same hammer orientation condition?

Both were uncocked, don't recall trying it cocked. I guess I will have to check them with it cocked. I see where your coming from and headed to with this....Bullseye wrote:Hammer cocked or uncocked? Both guns in the same hammer orientation condition?

I got my neighbor to test it with the hammer cocked and he reported there was a significant drop in load. So it looks like he only need a recoil spring assembly.
I wish I was home so we could swap in the RS (and main spring) out of my gun it to his for a comparison.
