Somehow, I seem to feel this conversation took place about a month ago, however, for casual carry, I have the North American Arms Mini Mag.
It comes in .22mag. and can be gotten with a second cylinder for .22lr which is a lot cheaper to practice with.
The gun is made in the USA and is VERY WELL MADE!!!!!
Stainless Steel. This is what it looks like;

It is about the size of a pack of cigarettes and fits in the side pants pocket and you hardly know it is there. There are also some very nice pocket holsters available.

Beware the man who only has one gun.
HE PROBABLY KNOWS HOW TO USE IT!!!

Finally got my carry permit today. My two month long service DD-214 passed in VA (I posted back in May as to concerns it might not).
I'm not as excited as I thought I'd be. I don't know how often I'll carry. Probably not that much. It's just nice to now have that option available. And using Beretta .22 Bobcats for carry, I'm some combination of: confident, brave, and stupid.
Lots of people just carry when they think they will need it, wonder if theey only have a spare in their car when they expect to get a flat?
Glad to hear that bud, Bear and I carry all the time also, usually the SA Micro and the P3AT as a backup. In my car, I have a battery pack a DC powered air compressor and a spare tire, hope I don't have to use the either but, will if I have to. Better to have them and not need them, than need the and not have them. .380ACP is as light as I will go as far as self defense gun, bigger is better?

Glad it all worked out. Having the opportunity to carry concealed is a liberating feeling. I don't carry all that often anymore but I do like having the capability to make my own choice by having a CCW license.
I'm in the carry all the time group. It is the main reason that I acquired my Ruger LCP 380. It just disappears in it's pocket holster, and I forget that it is there when doing chores.
Ruger22,
your intentions somewhat the same as mine, inre of carrying. I don't carry all the time, in fact, probably a small percentage of the time. It is nice, although, to have the freedom to make that choice. For that reason, I got my CPL. There is nothing like a 45acp for "stopping power", but the weight issue makes it too cumbersome for me. I have a Kahr PM9 I'm just breaking in, and it is my type of carry gun: Light, and good reputation(I hope it works for me).
Congrats, and enjoy.
Remember, every freedom involves an equal responsibility

I got one recently for a toy, and to remove MrsBFD's excuses for not carrying on-body. The conversion cylinder is a smart move. We got the folder grip, were unhappy with it on the first range trip, and have swapped it out for the mini-master rubber grip, we also picked up a "Pug" rubber slip-on grip, testing is in progress to determine which one we like best.
The thing is fun on a bun to shoot, discounting poking the spent cases out with the pin ... I put a brass pin with a slightly larger diameter in the range bag to simplify that.

The Beretta Bobcat is a little fella, so you really shouldn't need to stress over when to carry and when to not ... if it is legal, just carry.

One note about packing with rimfire: Rimfire ammo isn't going to last anywhere near as long in a pocket, so change out your ammo frequently, preferably by shooting it following a known carry period. Whatever period you determine causes degradation in ammo reliability, cut that in half and swap ammo that often. (example if I wasn't clear - if 2 weeks of CC makes your ammo even slightly susceptible to failure, swap it weekly!)
You can afford to run through some extra .22LR ammo! You can't afford to have a failure in a small caliber with a pistol known for trouble clearing duds!.
.22 really is a bit light for a gunfight, but Step#1 is to bring a gun, so you are still ahead of 95% of the population, you should have a threat without a gun outmatched, if you are proficient and not caught flat-footed. Hopefully your CC experience will be boring and unremarkable.

Nope. Been meaning to get the mounting bolt I need for the old pickum up truck, for two years.

The real question is how often do you check the air in your spare tire?

Every 3000 miles when I get a LOF, they check all lights, tires etc and wash the car also.

For me, I never check the air in the spare, but I do carry one of those air pumps that you can plug into the 12V lighter receptacle in all the cars.

Me too and one of those jumper battery packs too. Never have used the battery myself but have helped a couple of people. Much easier to use than jumper cables.

Whenever I think of it, so between 1000 and 3000 miles driven, and before every major road-trip.

That's pretty good Dave. I just got back from my road trip close to your neck of the woods and I never bothered to check the spare. I did check everything else, plus a new set of tires all around before I left.

When you had the new set put on the tire installer most likely checked your spare.

You may be right about that. I didn't ask them to check it but it is possible.
