RST-4 Firing Pin Assembly

I recently acquired a mid-60s vintage RST-4 which seemed to be in fine shape. Took it to the range where all seemed fine until all I got was clicks with no bangs. Stripped it down to find that the only removable part on the bolt was the recoil spring. The several parts that make up the firing pin assembly within the bolt were missing. Any suggestions on how it might be repaired and if so where? Back to Ruger for such an old gun?? Would appreciate any suggestions.

You might want to try Numrich for the parts, or call ruger and ask. that is a ruger Standard .22 pistol right? I don't think there are much if any differences in the firing pin or other parts between yours and a mkII or III. greener could prllbably tell you better though, he has a couple of them.

Firing pin parts are the same. You'll need a rebound spring and spring guide too. Was there an extractor in the bolt?

Yes, the extractor was there.

You don't need to send the gun into Ruger you can also order the parts from them. Just call the Customer Service line. Once you receive them it is very easy to install the parts into the bolt.

If you don't have a firing pin stop pin you may want to add that to the list.

Got the parts from Ruger yesterday, installed them last night, fired 81 rounds at the range today. Worked great. Thanks for the help!!!

I'm very pleased to hear you are satisfied with your pistol's performance. Now it's time to go and break that pistol in at the range - let me prescribe a long range session with the better part of a bulk pack of ammo to do the job right. Enjoy!

Will do. And I've seen a pretty nice Mark II that I'm considering for purchase. I always start any range session with a .22. Now it will be a Ruger in addition to my S&W Model 17. It seems to me that a break-in session with a .22 makes for better accuracy with the heavier artillery. It works great for my Ruger .380, my Ruger 45 ACP, my S&W 38 Specials, and my Ruger 357 magnum; but it doesn't seem to work with my S&W 9mm Sigma. I can't hit the broad side of a barn with it. Therefore, I'll stay with my S&W M&P 40C which is the most accurate weapon that I have. TNX again.
