Light(er) strikes on MKIII

Light Volquartsen hammer strikes
I Had already installed a Volquartsen accurizing kit in my MK111 comp. When I found this Most Excellent Forum And learned a few things. First I removed the mk3 Volquartsen hammer and decided to install the mk2 Volquartsen hammer with The clark mk2 pin/bushing to eliminate mag safety and took it one step further by Machining a brass plug to fill the lightening hole in the vol. mk2 hammer making about the same weight as the stock hammer. I did this without experiencing any light hammer strikes, just figured I would remove any possibility. I have approx. 10,550 rds. through her without any problems. also picked up a Lymans Trigger pull gauge. and I have a clean/crisp 1 lb. 13 oz. trigger pull. Hope this may help anyone with light hammer strikes and thanks again for the great suggestions and recent support on my recent post.

I ended up doing a little of both. My hammer does not swing 100% freely, but much looser than before. With a little shaking the hammer moves. Strikes look almost as good as the old brass, I shouldn't have problems with CCI, the others I'll have to see. Actually, CCI and Federal look very good, the cheap Remington not so much, but I believe Remington brass is not as soft, so maybe that explains it. I think the strikes look good enough to make it go bang anyway.
I have a feeling that my frame is a little warped from the grip mod. I think it lost some structural strength when I did it, and now the upper frame sort of slants inward in an inverted triangle, so there is more pressure on the hammer than before, sort of like its being pinched or something. The grinding of the strut pin head and the safety created some room and with a little oil things are pretty loose.
Wierd thing is that when I put it back together trigger weighs in at 2.25-2.5#, as if .25# came back.
Hopefully I can get to the range Friday, Saturday at the latest.

Follow up and question on re-bluing:
Life seems good again, shot 80 rounds of remington bulk. only one refused to fire after two good-looking strikes, I blame it on the round. one fired on a second strike, again I blame it on the round, the first strike seemed fine. Also one case cracked, so I think the remington is the harder brass. 40 Federal bulks had no complaint. 10 cci standards went off of course. All acceptable to me. I will do 100 cci standards tomorrow before an 1800 on sunday where I'll do 100 more, I am confident they will all go bang. Assume all went well if I don't update.
Thanks for all the help, I would have been on a wild goose chase with the firing pin otherwise.
To re-blue the safety lever, is that birchwood-casey stuff at walmart good enough, or is there a better solution for a one-off small part? I plan to keep it oiled from now on because there is still a little bit of friction.
