selling my 41

Post by Blazer » Fri Mar 14, 2008 7:14 pm

What is a fair asking price for my S&W 41? I bought it in 1983 in think? It's in great shape.I never really shot it much, it was my first pistol, then I got into hunting pistols. It has a Leupold crosshair scope, and will shoot 3/4" groups or better from the bench. As Bullseye knows I just started getting serious about bullseye shooting and I just can't shoot the 41 consistently. Just doesn't fit me right. The gun is great, the fault lies with me  So......anyone have an opinion :?: I'll try to post some pics. serial # starts TAH

Your not alone with feeling uncomfortable with the Model 41, Blazer. Many people just cannot seem to get the most out of these pistols. I have met many folks who swear that they are junk and then those who'd praise them as the next best thing to sliced bread. Some folks just can shoot them well. I see many out there for sale that the owner said just didn't perform well. There wasn't a thing wrong with the pistol, the owner just couldn't get comfortable with it.

The asking price is alway dependent on the market. A pistol is only worth what someone is willing to pay. These price variations fluctuate regionally, and what is good on one area won't sell in another. Condition is also a factor in pricing a M-41. A good one, in 95 to 100% condition is worth $650 to $800 depending on your market. Obviously you paid far less for it, if you bought it new in 1983. That can give you some bargaining room when trying to close a sale.

I'm particular to the Model 41's and I shoot them well, so I'm a little biased. I also have the ability to wait out a good deal. The last one I bought a few years ago, had a 5" field barrel, two magazines, in very good condition, and I picked it up for $400. The barrel alone is worth that much.

Good luck with your sale, hope this helps.
