Hi Folks,
I took the plunge and have a S&W Model 41 on the way. It's factory tapped and I'm going to put an ultradot on it.
I see two options for bases, Weavers 62 base, or another made by Weigand. The Weigand is almost 5x the price, but the only obvious difference I can see is the finish, which is matte to match the pistol, and I don't care about it. Also the scant description of the Weigand base says you need to remove the rear sight, which is apparently not the case with the 62 base.
Anyone know a reason to use the Weigand base other than being pretty?
Thanks!

I use the Weaver #62 bases all the time. I even have them on my personal Model 41's.

Looks like they are getting scarce but Champions Choice says they have them in stock at $30 each.

They finally got some in yesterday at Midway. I think I managed to get 3 into my cart before I checked out- the first time I tried it I got one with 2 backordered, so I waited a few minutes and gave it another try. Cross your fingers
