What is your use? Target shooting, will you be using a rest, bowling pins....

All these make a difference. A scope with magnification will magnify your movement. Most dot scopes do not. Dot scopes are nice if you have aging eyes and have problem see the iron sites. Depending on how you you shoot your eye relief may require a high end pistol scope. First you need to decide 1 hand or 2, then measure what your eye relief will be. If looking for a dot scope this does not apply, but then you need to decide how large of a dot you want.

So tell us what kind of use do you have in mind at it will help in making recommendations for you.

I have both for my MKIII but the dot is what lives on it.

I have used both a 2x Bushnell and a Mueller Quick Shot reflex dot scope. I find the dot sight is better for quicker shots particularly if their moving. Now with the 2x scope I was able to pick them tree rats off out to 40 yrds using a rest. If your going to use any thing to help steady the gun the scope will make it easier. Some even mount a 2-7x variable power scope but use the 2x the most. You can even use a rifle scope, gives you more magnification. The scope will have the edge at longer distances. You just need to be aware of what the eye relief is. If you shoot 2 hands have some one measure from the back of the receiver to your eye using you normal stance. I have long arms which left me very little to choose from. Nikon ER series has the longest relief, Leupold has a decent range on some. But the average is <12" in the 9" range. Which means you will be using a rest most of the time, whether it's the side of a tree or what ever you find.

The Dot scopes have unlimited eye relief, the reason we old men with bi/trifocals like them. You only use your far vision. Ultra Dot is probably the best tube type and has the smallest dot 2moa. Most reflex type have a 3moa or larger. This is key because it impacts your accuracy. The smaller the dot the more accurate you will be with one.

I have the Mueller Quick Shot on my MKIII. It sells for around $100. The Ultra Dot sell for around $170.

I do not know which part of the country your in but your free to try mine out.
