Hearing & eye protection

I seem to make inexperienced mistakes while shooting service rifle, for one, I turned the windage sight the wrong way. I could have sworn I looked at the little arrow that indicated "left", but I turned it slightly right. It screwed up a decent score. One thing I also did, after returning from downrange was that I forgot to put the foam hearing protector back in my right ear before the next stage of competition started. With a host of AR-15's and M1A's going off during rapid fire prone, my right ear took a beating. It was ringing all the way home and finally didn't get back to normal until the next day. It was a little scary, as I know hearing injuries add up on each other in succession. I feel I'm ok now though. It is a good reminder to "ALWAYS" wear your eyes and ears, as they say.
I also have been fortunate to work where ear plugs are supplied freely to me, and I have tested out the ones avaliable to find the best. I also have Howard Leights muffs, low profile, but they still seem to get in the way of my AR shooting ?

I am right handed and use my right eye for sighting. I don't know what is normal? I mean with which eye to useI've never had an issue with muffs hindering my rifle shooting.....r you left eye dominant/ right handed?

Here are my two favorite earplugs :

both of these work great, and I get them at work. (Don't tell my boss)
