why can't i find any new Mark III's for sale
Friends took me out shooting a couple weeks ago. WOW I forgot how much fun this is. I shot a lot of rimfire rifle and shotgun when i was in scouts. But have not shot in 10 years. I am hooked again.
After extensive research on this site and others I have decided I would like to purchase the Mark III 678 GC or hunter if I cannot find the GC. Problem is every gun dealer around me is totally out of any Ruger pistols. One of the stores told me that current conditions were not enabling them to give estimated re-stock dates. This guy had previously made me feel stupid for asking questions so I accepted his answer and left. Needless to say I don't think i will be returnign there.
So what am i missing. why is it so hard to find these guns? Are there legal problems? production problems? New model relesase?

My guess is that the shortage is due to the run on firearms over the past few months. Keep looking around, some one will probably have one. I've seen a few Hunters and GC's down in central Virginia at shops and shows. You might check with your local Gander Mountain. If they have any in stock at another store, they may be willing to transfer the pistol. Their ad didn't show Rugers of any kind, but you never know. I've always found Gander Mt a bit pricey.
I picked up my Hunter from an individual, then a month later someone offered me $100 more than I paid for it. It's just like my .308 Carbine and AR-15, it's starting to look like an investment.
Hit the shows, there's usually more than a few for sale at the shows down here.

I forgot that part. None of the stores i vistied had too many non rifles or shotguns. That could be part of the problem maybe i am going to the wrong dealers.
I live in Ohio but travel alot to Indiana and Detroit (I am in Auburn Hills as I type this). What is the possibility of buying a firearm in a state that i do not reside in. I understand that in Michigan i have to go to the police station to get a permit. But is that even possible if i am not a resident of michigan?

Hi guys, I am a newbie here, this is my first post. I picked up a new Mark lll Target this weekend. I stumbled into this small gun shop in town, (Sacramento). They had several new and used Mark lll and Mark ll. It was the only place in town that had any. I was told by one dealer that until the big dealer shows were over the supple would be limited. I don’t know if this was BS or not, I don’t really know how the gun industry works.
I found this forum when I was researching which 22 I wanted to get. You guys convinced me to get the Ruger. I have no complaints. Sunday I did my first field strip of the gun. I knew I would be a challenge because of what I had read here and elsewhere. But with the great instructions available here I got er done. Then off to the range.
The gun was great, better then me. I had 3 FTE with a box of Winchester and a box of Federal hollow points. The CCI high velocity worked great no problems at all. So I guess I will continue to shoot them. Know if I could get a new set of eyes I would have it going on. I do have a Bushnell red dot on the way and hope that I can see the target without a ghost image. I well let you know how it does.

Can't help with the eyes, but get a Volquartzen extractor and you'll be able to shoot any garbage you can find then. As long as it goes bang the case will spit out. My Mark III was awful about FTE until I installed that extractor now it tosses cases 15 feet away.woody57 wrote:Hi guys, I am a newbie here, this is my first post. 2. they still GunShops in Kaliforneah ?
3. you are easily convinced, but it IS the right decision!!
keep the innerds "cleaned and lubed" for several bricks of ammo...
to help the metal-to-metal surfaces mate without un-due wear...
the 'bulk ammo' (federal AM-22, Win 333, etc...) are fine to
practice and learn your control... when YOU become a match
for the pistol, then ammo "quality and consistency" become a
factor... for about twice-the-price...
check out RimFireSports.com for the VQ-sear and
the: BW06 T-Style .22 Auto Magazine Loader
as a Thumb-Saver to load the Mags...
enjoy, keep us posted...

ps: we need "pix" !!

the problem with the UCL is that you then need
more-Mags to justify the loader...
also, ammo does not last as long, if you use the UCL...
and ammo is becoming more scarce... due to "the Hoarders",
( unless we get there first... )
