Tried them on shotguns when shooting skeet or sporting clays but did not care for them there. I always shot both eyes open and never saw the barrel but know where it was , shot mid 80% in both sports and a lot of 25's on skeet. Use them on most anything that is not scoped and have altered the sights on some guns to glue a lite pipe on them. They work great for me, even just recently put a set front/rear on my Ruger 10/22 4 digit carbine.laportechaarlie wrote:The first thing I do with a new gun is put HiViz sights on it if it isn't scoped.
All my shotguns have them as well as their great X-Coil recoil pad. Of course it helps that HiViz is located right here in Ft. Collins and I shoot with those guys on a regular basis.

My oldest son used to live in Fort Collins the late 90's.We spent some time out there and usually had our breakfast at the Silver Dollar Cafe in Oldtown Fort Collin, wonder if it is still there and operating? Son used to live up above the reservoir with some state open land behind him if memory serves me right.
You have great day and shoot straight and may the Good Lord smile on you.

I guess a good thing just keeps on going, don't know about other meals but they sure had a good breakfast menu. Our son left there in 98 and moved to Oregon. He had worked for HP since he got out of college in 1980. We must have been ther about 96, we stayed ther a couple of day before our daughter in Golden got married at the Chief Hosa Lodge west off of I-70?.laportechaarlie wrote:When we first moved to the Ft. Collins area in 1995 we lived right above the reservoir, have since moved just north of town to Laporte. The Silver Grill is indeed still here and is very popular for good reason.

The modified front sight works very well on the Henry, could have been a little shorter and it would have been better yet. Had to raise the rear sight fully to get it to shoot about 3/4 low at 25 feet, so it should be just about right for 25 yards. Do not care for iron sight on any longer distance anyhow. Will try it at 25 yards the next decent day we have, temp did get up to 47 today which was not that bad as there was very little wind.

Speaking of old eyes, OM, I have to have my Merit Optical Attachment on to see "only" one front sight. The target below was the first 12 shots from the PT1911 at 20 feet. Not bad for a half blind semi-old fart like me. (not wearing the Merit Opticals either!)

Not bad shooting for a youngster, glad you are enjoying your new toy.
South of 8 Mile who cares if you ever get back, probably no one down there. I believe it was Teddy Roosevelt that said " Walk softly and carry a big sstik or preferably a1911"?????????

You might want to see a gunsmith as there are a couple of different dovetail cuts and I do not know which one Taurus uses. You could also alter yours the way I did my carry guns but I do not think you want to file and alter the sights like I do.Hakaman wrote:yes, both front and rearTry Midway USA they have just about everything, is your front sight mounted in a dovetail?

They are referring to the width and height of the fron sight .100 wide x .180 or other dimension tall. I have only used HiVix never even knew about Dawson Precision and from my experience I prefer green lit pipe over red. The HiViz sigh you can change the diameter and coor as the come with 3 different diameter faces in 2 colors.Hakaman wrote:just found this distributor, but don't understand all the terms? Take a look at this one Hakaman, just picked it up off the HiViz website or you might ask around on the Taurus forum for the one to get, someone there must have one.
