.22s for Survival?

If a situation ever arose in these modern times where society totally breaks down, many people will not be able to provide for their families and suffer from starvation. Many of today's citizens have lost those hunter gatherer skills our forefathers had which are a necessity for long term survival. Think about it - how many folks can hunt successfully today? Of course the Peta-files and tree huggers will claim that they could easily survive using their superior herbivore skills.

Can this land support 300 million plus starving citizens? Natural resources like small game and firewood would be rapidly depleted by hordes of starving scavengers. The land would be forever changed by the rapid depletion of natural habitats for plants and animals. One thing's for sure if it ever happened today, there'd be a whole lot less pudgy 10 year olds roaming the neighborhoods.

Except in NOLA some of the anarchist were wearing uniforms.

I've kept a "survival kit" for years: knife, matches, couple of candles, fishing line & hooks, a bit of plastic sheeting, compass, nylon cord and such. At home, we usually could manage a few days without electricity. I've got enough other stuff around to "upgrade." Maybe there is a real use for a Walther P22.

Ruger LCP or Kel Tec P-3AT would be a better choce, bigger bullet is always better.

I was thinking about something to use for small critters. With my accuracy with the P22, I'd have to be close enough that a rock would work just as well.

For small crtiiters a good stout tree limb of about 5 feet woulkd be my prferred weapon, simple and effective and never runs out of ammo.

Tough carrying all the 5' limbs I'd break getting one critter. My "limb groups" are no better than my pistol groups.

I have an Winchester Mod 69 that I started shooting in the '50's. If I were to take a .22, that might be my choice. It's been my "never miss" field gun for decades.

For a survival gun in .22 rimfire I think I would just stick with my old Ruger .22 carbine with the 4 digit no prefix serial number that I was shooting the other day when you were at my shooting grounds, They will run on most any ammo and have enough accuracy to get you a lot of small critter food for the grill.

That 10/22 will do very nicely. Think you may have broken my 10/22 resistance barrier.

Monkey suit is standing at the ready. Tried to suggest dress Blues would be better but my daughter thought some of the guests would be a bit left for that and my wife mentioned something about her investment increasing since I last wore them.

Got to be careful when you wear those clothes that you rarely wear, as hanging in the closet and the lack of fresh air and sunlight makes them shrink drastically. Have that problem with a lot of my dressup clothing, the jeans and T's get out more and do not suffer from that malady.
