Speedloaders, history

I did some web search on whether there is one company that makes speedloaders for the 357 LCR, the 22 LCR, and the HS Sentinel. Nope. I just thought it would be nice if they all matched, so they'd have the same operation and feel.

If HKS made one for an eight shot 22, I'd be in business. They are the only one that makes a nine shot. HKS doesn't even have an email address so I can ask them what they are waiting for. The eight shot would fit both the LCR and SP-101 22s.

I did learn that the first speedloader was patented in 1879. Whoda thunk it was that far back? Looked pretty good, too.

There is a resurgence of interest in revolvers, from what I understand.

I have used the HKS speedloader with a model 27 Smith, and once I finally bought a belt pouch for it and practiced a bit, I thought it was quite practical.

Beyond practice, I never used it for its intended purpose but it was nice to know that I had that bit of insurance.

I've learned that about myself, twice. I've owned a few semi-autos in both shooting lives, but found I greatly preferred revolvers. None of the feed and eject headaches. Making a pistol work well, especially a rimfire, seems as much voodoo as science......

Not much of a rifle fan, and both times only a 10/22. If someone made a .22LR lever in stainless, I probably wouldn't have a semi rifle. 10/22s do seem to be as dependable as any other rimfire rifle action, though.

I've had HKS speedloaders in the past, but only for .38 / .357s. Now have the rubber strip loaders. Slower, but easy to slip in a pocket, and don't dump on their own. Biggest problem, they work best if you skip every third spot. So that's a four round reload on the LCR-357. Seven rounds with the LCR-22 and Sentinel.
