The Ruger Forum(S)

Post by ruger22 » Tue Oct 18, 2011 11:14 am

Just a quick review, in case anyone wants to supplement the fine reading here on GTOL........ :D

After dropping off the Ruger Forum dot com, I've been on the dot net one for about a week. Not so highly opinionated, and a lot less political debate. You can upload a limited number of photos from your own computer. Plus it seems to average about 40 posts a day, versus 200 on the dot com one.

A friendlier bunch of nice, average Joes. There's bound to be a few ladies, not sure yet (not that I'm looking).........

.net (red Ruger) seems to have less technical information although Iowegan is a good resource. His books of knowledge are pretty good, although I like Bullseye's technical section for the MK's better. Cute part of the .net is the little spats and people getting banned. I believe this was the forum that one of the founders got into a spat and started another forum. http://www.earlyriserscoffeeshop.com/forum/

the .com forum is fuller of highly opinionated folks who get a bit testy every now and then. Some of the tech stuff is darned good. If you have an SR9 or SR40 jhearne's posts on that forum are a must read.

I haven't noticed any dot net Ruger forum spats, so far. So far as Ruger dot com being opinionated and testy, you got that 101% right! I could do without all the political squabbling on either. I think the politics should be limited to gun related issues, but the squabblers enjoy themselves as is.

I agree that Bullseye's Mark pistol expertise is tops. That's what led me to this forum in the first place....... :D

I've posted on both forums at times, more so on the dot com than dot net site. Typically I scan for folks needing technical assistance and try to avoid the bickering threads. My free time has just gotten a lot more critical recently and I don't get to spend as much time on the computer as I have in the past.

Plus, I've learned that now days there's way more folks who know more about firearms than I, and therefore don't genuinely need my assistance.

I doubt that. Maybe just a detail or two. You are the man to ask on Rugers!

The dot com forum definitely gets heated over politics. I think they post more on that than Rugers!
