I have to vent a little.
If people want answers to questions here and on almost every other forum I frequent they ought to have the courtesy to at least acknowledge that they have read the answering post.
Maybe the answer is not what they are looking for but at least let us know that the answering post has been looked at.
I'm sure Bullseye has been through this many times but, as for me, I'm getting a little tired of offering what little help I can offer and never getting a reply showing that I either helped or hindered with a problem.
I've already got a few people on my "do not answer" list and the list keeps getting longer every day.
Come on people, a little bit of back talk goes a long way to keeping the forums a give and take thing. If you ask for a little help you should at least acknowledge the answer, whether it helps or not.

Re: Just Griping
I worked for a time in a support center where we helped professional technicians fix computers. The big blue stuff. We maintained a searchable data base so we always asked people to call back and tell us how they fixed a problem and if our suggestions helped. Only rarely did someone call back unless they needed more help. If they didn't call back, we assumed that we helped them fix the problem.boomer47 wrote:I have to vent a little.

Blessed are they who expect nothing, for they shall not be disappointed.

Well, as I said, I was just letting off steam.
I still think that if I, or anyone else, go to the trouble to look up and post a url or other website, or try the best I can, to answer a question to try to help someone with a problem then some sort of reply is in order.
I won't worry about it anymore.

Kinda like being a teacher and the students just sleep thru the class.
Also, I've read some postings on various forums when I thought I
could provide some helpful info... and proceed to tell them all the
options and considerations as to how to make a clock
and then realize that their (poorly phrased) question was: What Time is it?
I guess it is a better situation to have my Responses un(der)appreciated
rather than an alternate situation where my Questions are un(der)responded to...

Boomer47, you and Bullseye (as well as others) have helped me on several occasions and I hope I've always remembered to acknowledge it and thank you. If I've ever slipped up, please accept my apologies. There are other forums, however, where I don't always bother with an acknowlegement because the answer was sarcastic, arrogant or both.
Blindpig,
Thanks for that. I agree that we get some answers on other forums that are a little on the sarcastic side.
As Bullseye has said, there are no stupid questions, just stupid answers.
All along, my only point was: If you ask a question and get an answer that remotely applies then you should at least acknlowledge the reply.
Just like you would if you were talking to the guy in person, just simple courtesy.
I was just a little miffed at a guy on another forum that has asked questions several times that he could find an answer to by just doing a bit of searching himself or, looking at the stickies, and then getting multiple answers and urls posted that were never acknowledged.
No problem on this forum so I'll just shut up and hope we don't run into it here.

Boomer, you must be getting old, common sense and simple courtesy are not in fashion like they were when we were young guys. You southern boys still show more courtesy than most Yankees do. I was always taught by my folks to treat people with the respect you would expect to get from them.
You have great day and shoot straight and may the Good Lord smile on you.
