Sometimes a Polite Word Works

Made my obligatory Saturday morning range trip this morning. There was a training class of about 10 people on the 15 yard pistol range being given by a guy who is pretty good at training. One of the Saturday morning regulars said he was leaving because of the class and another left as I got there and said "Watch yourself, pretty scary down there." The instructor had set himself up on the edge of one of the tables so that he was perpendicular to the line of fire. He was preparing the pistol for each shooter. He always kept the pistol in front of him, which sometimes resulted in the muzzle being pointed along the firing line.
When I saw it, I wandered down and asked to see him alone and explained what I saw. He got the big eyes and thanked me for the comments. At the end of his session he thanked me in front of the group and had a firearms safety lesson with himself as the example.
Guess doing it politely works pretty well with most folks.
