Should the motto "In God We Trust" be removed from U.S. currency?
Yes. It's a violation of the principle of separation of church and state.
No. The motto has historical and patriotic significance and does
nothing to establish a state religion.

Our founding fathers were very clear in their beliefs of God and they said so in the Declaration of Independence. "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

One of the things that they feared was intolerance over individual religious beliefs and a 'one' State religion. They hated the fact that the Church of England was being forced down their throats and fled Britain to end religious persecution.

an alternate question could be:
removing the name/signature of current-politicians
from the printed currency. an issue-date is adequate,
if I want to know who was in office when that bill was
printed... I can look-it-up...

now that you got me started...
when I go to the local "County-tax-collector" office
to pay-up for my license-tags... there is a small sign:
"makes checks payable to ******* YYYY, County Clerk"
as a subtle campaign reminder...
I've never made such a check... I use:
" ZZZZZ County Tax Collector"

I've never had a check returned, they always get cashed...

You are right curm, but I also care about the currency. Many people have fought and died to keep our freedoms in tact, just the way our forefathers agreed upon, currency and all. Besides, a country respectful of God will always be strong. Maybe that's why we see our country faltering these days.
