Sign of the times?

A coworker mentioned that two of the Richmond area Wally Worlds were essentially out of centerfire handgun ammo. He said that a manager told him that Walmart had terminated it's ammo hotline, the number to call if the store was getting low on stock. The policy seems to be "you will get it when we can get it." I went by another area Walmart today to get oil and to check out the ammo supply. This one had very few boxes of centerfire handgun ammo and, except for RGB's, the .22lr ammo was a bit sparse. I helped them become a bit sparser because I'm getting low on .22lr. PS. Don't ask the afternoon clerk if they will sell a case, he doesn't know what a case is or where to look for it.

I wonder if, along with the boom in gun sales, there is an ammunition stock-up mentality, also. My inventory has dropped under a 1000 rounds, so I was out to do my normal stocking up.

 You are seriously low my friend, go out immediately and buy more ammo! Set yourself a "replenishment low limit" and keep plenty stock on hand. This way you'll never run out of 22 ammo.

LOL. I see I had my usual attack of imprecise writing. I should have said under 1000 rounds of .22lr, which is my restock point. Buying in quantity saves my time, saves fuel and saves the planet by reducing my carbon footprint. I work hard at being green. Besides, you never know when the zombie chipmunks will attack.

If them zombie chipmunks try to mount an attack here in Meeeecheeegaaan we are ready for them, they will find their little frozen carcasses in the fpring when the snow goes away. Rob, you still remember what snow is don't you? Just got in 4K, mostly Fiocchi LSP and some Eley Sport in addition the the Fiocchi and the Fed bulk we have in stock we are ready. Must have 6 or 7K in the cabinet. I don't go to Wally World unless I really want something as I get tired of tripping over the "Old Grays", and I am one of them
You have great day and shoot straight and may the Good Lord smile on you.

I remember snow well. In fact, I saw 2 whole inches when I was in KZ after Christmas. I sill have my snow removal stuff. It's stored in my son's garage. Only a 750 mile drive one way to get it if I need it.

I'm a Walmart regular. I go 1-2 times/month. Their ammo stocks were lower than I ever recall. I have a feeling that the recent surge in gun purchases have also resulted in a bump in sales for the ammo manufacturer's.

Man you are tougher than I thought if you can go to the WalMart that often, drives me up a wall, tripping over all them Old Grays.
As far as my snow removal equipment it is much closer, the motor operated is in my yard shed in the back of the yard and the manually operated unit is parked just outside the back patio door within easy reach. Our local WalMart no longer carries guns and I prefer to do my gun purchases at the shop I took you to or one operated by a nephew of the guy that runs that one in a nearby town. I do my grocery shopping at the Meijer store up here and they have just about everything that a Super WalMart has and they are near my gun club besides. We are in for some damn cold weather again so guess my shooting is curtailed for a while, unless I hit the indoor range in the next town and I really do not care for that range, so I will most likely do without.
Congratulations on post # 800 :D :)
You have great day and shoot straight and may the Good Lord smile on you.

My Walmart trips are for things that the price differential makes them worthwhile. My source for cases of .22 I liked and at a price I liked dried up last spring and Walmart is the only place I've seen that has Federal Automatch. I prefer Meijer's to Walmart but the nearest Meijer's is at least 300 miles away.

I understand your range withdrawal symptoms. When I lived in Kazoo I started getting cabin fever about this time of year. I'm hearing some of the same complaints from my son.

Definitely not practical for you to go to Meijer, gas money for the round trip would eat up any savings and consume a lot of time also, and you still have to watch out for the Old Grays. The one I go to, during the first part of the week the Senior Living Center bus drops them off between 9 and 10 in the morning, I make every effort to get my shopping done and my butt out of there before the Old Gray Express arrives. I really should not talk about them because I am one.
Cabin fever has me and the outlook for the next week is not good, about 35 and no winds would make a nice half hour shooting session. Oh well Spring is coming I hope.

Perfect weather for forming snotsicles from your nostrils. I remember those days where taking a deep breath meant an instant brain freeze - Don't miss them much.

What the oldman forgot to mention is summer's two weeks only if the groundhog doesn't see his shadow. If he does, then it's only one week, because that first week is spring!

Right you are my friend, and you can feel the hairs in your nostril frost up. Years ago, I had a fairly large mustache and boy did that grow icicles from your breath, had to deice it every so often.
I believe that if the the groundhog does see his shadow there is no Summer one week is Spring and the other is Fall.

I understand that some "good sippin" whiskey works well as a deicer for those frosty days.8)
