2nd Amendment decision

2nd Amendment decision
US Supremes affirm 2nd Amendment as an individual and not a collective right of the government today when they rendered a decision in the Heller case. The decision was much closer than it should have been but the correct outcome was reached by the majority of the court. Here's a PDF link to the decision. Heller Decision

Heller case
How frightening is it that a right that pre-dates the Constitution was, but for one vote, taken away from us! While the decision is a tremendous victory for our rights, I fear it is only one battle in a war that those who would take away our rights will continue to fight.
Now if we can get all the States to pass must issue permit laws, adopt the castle doctrine, and adopt meaningful reciprocity, our only worries will be the rising cost of ammo.

It's a lot like saying you cannot use any modern communications equipment to exercise your free speech rights, only two soup cans and some string.
I'm sure that will all fall by the wayside as the good folks of DC fight for their rights. It may take some time but eventually the bureaucrats will get in line and follow the will of the citizens.

I, too, believe this is only a good 'first step'.
A couple days after the "decision", I was in a pawn shop
and just had to leave with a closet-queen 1980 (pre safety)
Marlin .30-30, it still had the front-hood, rear sight and hammer spur,
but the 'target logo' was gone !!!???
took it down clean and oiled it... and a couple days later put
a few round thru it at the range...
felt good to celebrate my newly re-established "right".

Greener: I noticed you've passed me on the 'posting count',
but who's counting?
It seems we are "Expert contributors"...
not necessarily Experts in WHAT we contribute...

Toy, you sure like them lever guns, must be the John Wayne in your blood.
Toy and Greener, I am still ahead of both of you but then again I believe I was about the 4th member of this forum after Bullseye started it.
And yes, we are expert contributors most likely in seniority and post count but not necessarily known for our expert advice. But then again I don't think I got this old by being totally stupid????

When you get to 600 posts you become a "Master Contributor." I had to establish some rank levels for posting, so I came up with that list. If you, the membership, are unhappy with the names of ranks, make some suggestions for new ones and I can change them. I have no problem with that at all!

Well Tex, he might be at fault when he eats too many french fries hih he will drive you crazy to eg them from youm but they give him gas. He sleeps at the foot of the bed as aany loyal guard dog should and as doggies never make a sound when the gas leaves, he takes you by surprise, open the window or leave the room or both if required and come back when the air is clear.toyfj40 wrote:as long as you don't "blame it on the dog" (ie. I wish the pawn shops in Michigan still had guns, or maybe not as my colloection might become an ARSENAL.greener wrote:Toy, I've refrained from mentioning the "Expert" by my name for fear that Bullseye would make an editorial change. If I reach the lofty heights that Len has, he might decide on a "Master of None" designation.
I wish the pawn shops I've been to had collections like you find. Good work!
Master of none may fit a lot of us???????
