I guess I ought to do the intro thing

Post by MicroGuy » Tue Jul 31, 2007 10:09 pm

I'm fairly new to shooting, I haven't shot anything in a very long time. But I have been wanting something for quite a while and finally got around to getting it.

I just don't trust our "government" that much, I just think it's going to be too hard to purchase guns and/or ammo in a few years. So i figured it's time to get what I want while I can. I hope I'm wrong, but hey, why take a chance.

So I got a target .22 (Mark III Target), and plan on getting something else for home protection a bit later. And maybe a rifle or two.

My back ground is just about all electronics. I've worked in R&D just about all my life, designing and building electronic "stuff", at the component level, not like stereos and stuff like that. I did a stint at a system administrator for a global corporation, all computers, all the time (I hate them.....)

I finally had to leave and go on disability because I have severe back pain. (among other stufff). The doctor has told me that there's pretty much nothing they can do any more. Doubt I'll ever be able to work again, and I'm only 46.

So this makes for a nice little hobby, much cheaper than purchasing butt loads of electronic parts to build stuff, and it works most of the time. but my first love is electronics.

Single, and will probably stay that way. Hell, I couldn't get a date in a morgue, and I accept that, so I'm done trying. (and I don't want to hear anything about giving up, sometimes you just have to accept your fate and quit wasting time and money)

I don't have a thin skin, and I pretty much say what's on my mind, but I do take into consideration other people's feelings, but they don't mean a whole lot sometimes. I'd rather tell the truth and be rough, than outright lie and make somebody happy.

I don't like it when people lie to me, I don't figure other people do either. if they do, well, too bad eh?

Don't smoke, and live in the south (north Georgia). Anybody have any other questions, just ask, I'm an open book, but I may tell you stuff you don't want to hear either!

Jack

(if this should be else were, sorry, I blame it on being new....)

I find a trip to the range is some of the best therapy in the world. I can concentrate on technique and let the rest of the world fend for itself for a while. Good luck with your new hobby and you can still dabble in the old one, just not so much that your back starts hurting.

Welcome again!

Yeah, it does take my mind off of other stuff. But man, standing there just rags my back out something terrible.

Seems I can only shoot about an hour before I just can't stand it any more.

But dang I like it!

Nah, I've had several operations on my back and my belly, and the doctors have told me that at this point, there's nothing more they can do.

Sucks to be me.

Welcome and enjoy!
