Kicking my b---

Post by braggjd » Thu Jun 23, 2016 10:29 pm

I have a Ruger MK11 22-45 I disassemble the gun and replaced some parts , I put it back together without the mainspring latch, the magazine will go in and out good. But when I put the mainspring latch in, the magazine will not release, it jams, if I take the mainspring out it releases fine. I know its so thing simple but its kicking my b---. Any help.

The first thing to check is to ensure the hammer strut is staying on the mainspring cap when the MS housing is closed and latched. If it is not then what can happen when you close the mainspring housing is the strut slips of the MS cap and is pinched against the magazine body, which may be what is causing the inability to release the mag in your pistol. Not having the MS housing in the frame means the magazine is not being pinched by the hammer strut and can release normally.

Hope this helps,
