Just a curious question. Does the new Mustang have the same three-fingered flat spring as a 1911? Or two fingered, I don't see a grip safety on the Mustang?. With it being a Colt, and for all appearances a shrunk 1911, I thought it might.

Should be a Rolls-Royce level pistol. I understand the originals were excellent, and this one is supposed to be improved over those. I've read the original Mustang was made in seven versions, one all stainless. I could get interested in that one should Colt reintroduce it.

The new Mustang 380's backstrap is one-piece and doesn't contain a grip safety, just like the earlier version Series 80 Mustang. Internally there is a two-piece sear spring, similar to the 1911, held into the frame by a spring clip. You can see it in this Series 80 Mustang exploded view picture as part #29. 380 diagram
