Put Mark III mag release in a Mark II?

Looking at the Ruger schematics, it looks like it would be possible to drill the three holes in the frame of a Mark II, thread the one for the screw, and install the Mark III mag release. You would also need the Mark III mags, or devise a way to put the "bump" on Mark II mags. Maybe a spot of weld shaped right?

I've never had a Mark II, so I don't have one to compare my Mark III grip frame with. Any ideas?

I know it would be simpler for Mark II owners if Ruger would just sell Mark III frames. The Ruger Mark Two And A Half, the ideal Ruger .22 pistol!

Seems like it could maybe work, I also only own a MKIII. I agree a MKII with the MKIII mag release would be the ideal Ruger.

That is a very tricky area to drill a cross frame hole. The end of the trigger guard is located in the frame right where the magazine release mounts. If the indexing is off you could find the bit slipping/walking off the edge of the guard. No doubt it can be done but I wouldn't attempt it without using a Mill.
