On a Redhawk HiVis Front -- Correct v-notch rear blade?

Post by tguil » Tue Jul 24, 2007 3:56 pm

I have a Ruger HiVis sight kit installed on my Mark II. Makes me feel twenty years younger -- almost. Now for my Redhawk with a 7 1/2 barrel. The HiVis kit from Ruger for the Redhawk does not include a v-notch rear blade. What rear blade should I order? I want to be able to use it as is. No filing. Just out with the old, in with the new. Heck, that's hard enough for me. :D

I'm sure some other "old guy" has done this conversion. And yes, I am aware of the v-notch rear blade-gold bead front kit at is available for $16.90 . Maybe this would be good enough and I wouldn't need the HiVis kit.

I'll Have To Check Out These Ruger Kits

I don't have any answers for you but I believe I need to look into those HiVis sight kits. I've got a Ruger KP345D that I really like. The only thing I don't like is the sights that come on it from the factory. They are just not visible for these old eyes. And Ruger in their infinite wisdom decided to go with a completely non-standard dovetail for the rear sight on this gun. So far I have not found any after market sight upgrade. I will have to check to see if Ruger themselves has anything.
