As I was I riding my electric scooter, the thought came to me that I was no longer a strapping man, able to take care of himself. I had become a weaker member of the herd, the kind predators seek out. So I picked up a Ruger SP101, 5 shot,with a 2 1/4"barrel. Fit right into my jean's pocket and wasn't noticeable. I'd like to hear. your thoughts on this very well put together pistol. TJ

I have never owned an SP-101, but I do know that they have a very good reputation.

I have only heard good things about that revolver, especially that's it's built like a tank.

They get mostly positive reviews. I don't own one, but keep being tempted.

On the two Ruger forums, the only negative I see much of is a heavy DA trigger, and Wolff has the springs to remedy that. Everyone seems pleased with the results.

I owned one and carried it for about a year. They are one tough little pistol that can stand all the .357's you may wish to fire through it. Trigger is a little hard at first but will wear in fast or mine did. I still have the C/T Laser grips for it. With a little practice they make for a hard combo to beat.

I wore mine in a IWB holster and never had problem with it. I'd say you made a wise choice.

I own one in SS and thoroughly enjoy it. Not my choice for CC, however. Compared to my S&W 36, it is too large and a bit heavier than the 36 and the 36 conceals much easier. I carry the 36 inside my waistband over my appendix in a Remora holster. Both are fitted with CT laser grips. I carry the SP101 in a belt holster when outdoors where CC isn't desired or required. There is one at each end of the house so no intruder can get between me and a loaded gun.

I like the trigger on the SP101. I can "cock" the hammer and hold it in a "cocked position with the trigger before going that bit extra to fire it. Takes a little practice, but it is almost like firing single action.

I had a GP100 and a SP101 for some time. My fix for a heavy Ruger trigger is to dry fire it. My GP was fairly heavy, I then dry fired it 2000 times over a couple weeks and that transformed the trigger, I never installed the wolf springs I had for it, it turned out perfect, for a defence gun. I never got a chance to do it with the SP101 because a friend and I made some trades and the SP101 went. But I`m back looking for the SP101 22lr. They are good guns and the SP101 is great to carry.

Well, I absolutely love it. It is a bit on the heavy side but not too bad. I took your advice, Baldy, and haven't regretted it. Wonderful little gun. I feel safe. Thanks for all your good input. TJ
