Ruger .22 conversion for 1911

Don't get excited, it's not made. Bill Ruger did patent one on August 11,1959; patent number 2,898,693. I have done some browsing through his patents and ran across it.
It used a fixed barrel and a receiver that looked like the original slide. It had a blow-back breech block inside the receiver that cocked the
external hammer. Says the magazine could hold .22 Short or .22 LR and used the 1911's mag release. Sorta like putting a Mark I inside a 1911. Shame it wasn't marketed.

Sorry folks, it worked when I tried it from a preview of the post. Just now it said a search time limit had expired. Probably because I had accessed it through Google's patent search feature.
I just entered the patent's number, 2898693, at the search page :
http://patft.uspto.gov/netahtml/PTO/srchnum.htm
and got :
http://patimg2.uspto.gov/.piw?Docid=028 ... first+page
That link should stay good. It's three pages, use the yellow arrows on the left to change the page. Tiny print, for sure.
If you have Quicktime in your computer it may all work, or you may have to download a free TIFF image viewer to see the images, at:

I have it in my PC, a quick download, no troubles.

Tried this link again today, three days later, it still works for me. If anyone is still interested. First page is the drawings, then two pages of the written description.

I tried it again and I'm not seeing anything. I shouldn't have any problems with Quicktime on my Mac.

If it doesn't work, you'll need to download the viewer. It's recommended on the patent office homepage, I have it in a PC and a laptop. My Norton 360 protection doesn't mind it.

One alternative is the Google patent search feature, but I can't be sure how it works with a computer that doesn't have the viewer. It's found by clicking "more" at the upper left of the Google home page, then click "even more". Then you get a list that has the patent search. Typing in "Ruger .22 conversion" might be enough.
When you get the hang of the patent office website, it can be really interesting. I've looked up several of Ruger's patent's (the transfer bar, the rotary magazine, etc.), among other things.
