Just got a Ruger email. New .40 version of SR9, not a C, though. $525.

I was glad to see them trim some of the fat off the old P-series pistols. I got to find someone who has one of the new SR's to try it out.

I've shot the fulsize SR9 and its a good gun, I think its a bit more accurate than the glock. but greener did clean up the trigger on it...

he said that it was gritty and rough. he tore it apart and did some polishing... not sure how much it really helped but the break is now crisp and smooth for a DAO auto.

I've discussed it earlier, but the SR9 trigger was a bit heavy (~8lbs) and gritty. Just before it released the sear the trigger felt like it was going into a detent. It felt almost like staging a revolver. I followed the instructions on
http://www.rugerforum.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=79926 and dis some polishing. I also removed the mag disconnect. It made a significant improvement the the trigger. smoothed it out but didn't drop the pull weight.
I'd guess that the SR40 trigger will be very similar to the SR9. I've heard the later SR9's and SR9c's have "better" triggers. I don't think the trigger feel would stop me from buying either the SR9 or SR40. The fix is easy. Besides, you can now get the ghost
http://www.ghostinc.com/category/ultimate_for_ruger/. The ultimate is supposed to be a straight drop in that smooths out the trigger and drops the pull weight to 3.5lbs. Seems to have good reviews.
I like the SR as a pistol. The 40 sounds interesting. Gun show this weekend and I hope to see one. Might be an interesting addition, if I decide not to buy the mate to the $350 1911.

A couple dealers at the Richmond Gun show had SR40's. The show price was $420. The gun felt good. Direct comparison with the SR9 and SR9C was good. The 40 is a tad wider than the 9's, as expected.

I think that the price of $420 is within reach of a lot of folks. When you are on a fixed income, it's tough to justify a $1,000 dollar pistol. For the ones that think the 9mm is anemic, the .40cal will strike their fancy. I think it will be a good seller. JMHO...
