kel-tec pf-9

A buddy just got one of these the other day, it seems to be a fairly good pocket gun like an up-size of the p3at. anybody have any opinion on it?

Fired one. Went bang when I pulled the trigger, ejected the casing and loaded the next round. A little larger than the.380, but the more I think about it, I think 9mm may be better than .380.

Carried the P-11 for quite a while when I got the PF-9 I put a hougue handall jr.grip and pinky extension,carrys much better concealed,and more accurate at 10 yards than the p-11 and trigger seems a lot better,scale of 1-10 I give it an 8 for price,concealability and accuracy,2 inch groups center at 10 yards,Hope this helps !

My opinion wouldn't count as I have a high prejudice against plastic guns....

I prefer blued steel to the same model in stainless. However, the advanced polymeric composite (tupperware) and some of the aluminum alloys do a fine job. Less likely to rust and pretty tough. They are resistant to rust. The polymer sure takes the weigh of the little pocket guns.

I do prefer metal guns over plastic but I also see benefits of the latter. 2" groups at 10 yards on a pocket gun ain't too shabby.

Well mine is butt ugly, works like it is 'sposed to, goes bang when I want it to and is accurate enough at 10-12 yards.

Trigger is "reasonable" but this is not one that I shoot for fun and games.

It works and I can hide it when I need to.

Being a locked breach recoil is managable for such a light piece.

Just my .02 worth.

I have been doing a little seaching/reading on the internet about the PF9 compared to the Kahr PM-9, CW-9. It's amazing how the opinions go, but from what I got out of it, the PF9 seems like a reliable firearm. When compared to the PM-9(I have this gun), the PM-9 has a little better trigger(?), but both seem about equal in reliability. The best test is for the owner to make themselves, shooting it at the range. I like my Kahr, but I think for the price, the Keltec would be a great buy. Hey Greener, isn't it about time for a new gun anyway?

Well, the Kahr PM9 basic model shows up at $786 on Gun Genie, while the KelTec PF9 shows up for $333
So ... is the KT more than 0.423 the gun that the Kahr is?
I'd give an emphatic YES on that, myself, not even taking into account the KelTec service and support behind a PF9.
I really should pick up a used PF9 just for the hell of it, as it stands my PPS is just too nice as a subcompact and slim 9mm gun and I have too many 9mm guns already, so a PF9 is low on the list.

And the PF9 isn't supossed to have a good trigger, think DAO revolver for a fair comparison, KT never intended that design as a fun range gun, any fun had is a freebie bonus. I've seen a few vaporware attempts to make a third-party .22lr conversion for the PF9, also ... if that was out there I'd have the gun and conversion kit on the way right now.

I wouldn't say the PF9 has a bad trigger, but when compared to the PM-9, it may not be as good.
I'm sure the trigger is just fine, but there may be triggers that are better? If I were in the market for a pocket 9mm,
I would "definitely" consider the PF9. But if money weren't an issue, I would include a CW9 in my consideration.
