The four leg sear spring is designed to reduce the chance of trigger bounce when loading a 1911 pistol with a light trigger. Jim Clark invented it and basically it is similar to a standard three pronged sear spring but the center spring has been split into two leafs. The the way it works is one of the split fingers applies pressure to the disconnector while the other one applies tension directly to the trigger bow. Unless you're planning on a very light trigger pull (1.5-2lbs) this part does not offer any advantage over a good quality three pronged sear spring that is adjusted properly.

Personally, I'm NOT a fan of the Clark 4 leaf spring. I've had to replace 3 of them in my wad gun over the the last 35000 rounds. They have a tendency to go soft on me. I just replaced my last one. It dropped to 3.0 lbs in less than a year.
Nothing but the 3 leafs from here on out.
