Expensive Targets

Shoot'n'See targets are expensive if the used pistol rack is behind the cash register. Last year they had a used MKII calling my name. This time they had a bunch of police trade-ins. Won't power was holding firm until he showed me a 65-4.
The DA trigger is smooth and doesn't feel that heavy. The SA trigger is excellent. The revolver was easy to point and acquire targets and seemed to be dead on at 15 yards shooting .38 special. My .357 loads went a bit low. At 25 yards 158 gr lswc's were pretty much POA and 125 gr lfp's were low. Considering who was shooting it, I was pleased with how it fired.
I think I prefer my GP100, but the S&W will definitely do in a pinch. Better yet, SWMBO likes it.

Cooled off here, but not like the frozen north. Winter should end in a few weeks.

I write my charges in a log. Of course I have to remember where I put the log and be able to read my writing.

All I know for sure is that the powder was Green dot somewhere around 5.5 to 6.5 grains and a 200 grain LSWC

My Lee manual shows 4.3 grains of green dot with a 200 lswc and a not to exceed load of 4.3 grains.

I know I used more than that, well I will sleep on it and then break down a couple of old reloads and check them out.

several months ago a guy had a "recently tweaked" AR
and was checking-out how it was firing. with OtC ammo,
he was complaining about the "grouping"...
I offered 5-6 of my simple .223 reloads...
and they grouped very well for him, he asked for the 'specs'...
I told him and ... then... later that evening,
I remembered that I'd loaded those .223 a few weeks prior
BUT had more recently loaded some .308
and I quoted him the 40+ grains of XX powder...
not the 20+ grains... for .223 -- D'oh...
come to think of it... I haven't seen him "around"... hmmmm.

Toy the least you could do is go to the Hospital and try to cheer him up or else to the Cemetery and pay your respect. Do you really think you can get 40 grains in a .223 case and still get the bullet in?

Bullseye, did you clean up the body parts first?

Sopped them up with a big sponge. I don't think that guy's gonna make it through the airport metal detectors anymore without a hand wave.

I bet he didn't need extra caffeine and sugar to keep him awake for the next few days after that bang.
I've tended to stay around the lower ends of the suggested loads in the reloading books. Something above cowboy loads and well under "oh, wow." When anyone suggests a load, I check somewhere to see if it looks reasonable. I've found the loads in Lee's "Modern Reloading" to do fairly well and the MD Smith pages
http://www.reloadammo.com/ usually do fairly well.
