Same here in Saginaw, in my living room just like you. Ain't that the truth though, us old guys just ramble on and on and on and on. Roger DeCoster the famous motocross champion rode a CZ in the late 60', I know this stuff because I am old and carry a big gun too. :D :) :o

CZ 75 TACTICAL SPORT

Post by Hakaman » Mon Feb 23, 2009 10:49 pm

Dear forum,
In my quest to find a good quality "shooter", if you will, I have done a little study on the CZ 75 TACTICAL SPORT. Wow, what a beauty. Does anybody have any experience with this gun? I am wondering what the trigger is like compared to a good 1911 ?

On a different note, I have "also" been interested in this gun, (not to be confused with my intentions of buying the likes of the gun listed above): Springfield Armory XDM9201HCSP in which I can get a real good deal on. Does anyone have experience with it?
Thanks, haka

I am back from the range today, and I think I got my money's worth in terms of shots fired. At the club I can stay as long as I want for just $8.00.
Well, 4 hours later, and 100rd of 9mm(I still stink with my Beretta), 50 rds of 38sp(sweet shooting S&W 686), and 300rds of 22lr thru my Ruger Mark lll and Ruger 10/22 rifle, I need to rest. The interesting thing about it all was the 10 rds of .45 acp thru a friends "Taurus PT1911. My impression of the Taurus is: "what a nice shooting, good feeling, solid 1911. It has made this the front runner for my next purchase. The 45acp seemed to kick less then my 9mm beretta(again, a gun that I can't #$% shoot very well  ) , and I like it's accuracy. I don't have a great deal of inherent accuracy to begin with, as my eyes have a hard time focusing properly any more. I have inquired to a club member to see if he can get me a discount. I called a local dealer, though, and he said he does not sell them because they keep breaking on their customers. He said even though the Taurus offers a lifetime warranty, the majority he sells "break", and need to be sent back, "so I don't sell them any more" ??? What is your experience with Taurus.
Thanks, haka :?:

Yeah, well in the real Michigan world the temp is 20 degrees but it is sunny. You must be shooting at an indoor range to shoot that much on a day like today. I used to belong to a nice indoor range up in Midland but it closed a year ago last December, just not enough business to pay the expenses. I had a membership there and members payed 046.00 per day and shoot as long as you want. Could even run out to Sanford and get lunch and come back, they were nice people. old retired Deeeetroit homicide detective. Great self defense instructor, he has been there and I have taken his teachings to heart, always carry 2 or more guns. The fastest reload is a second gun. Greener has a Taurus and as far as I know he has not had any problems. Some dealers get biased by the BIG name 1911'sand badmouth the other guns. :)

I keep hearing about the PT1911s always "breaking." I've had one for 18 months and it hasn't broken yet. The only problem I've had with it was my creation and when I finally figured out what I did to the gun, it took me about 5 minutes to fix it. The only "breaking" that appears to be common with these is the ambisafety. You can replace that yourself.

I've been pleased with the PT1911. I can shoot it fairly consistently up to 25 yards. No trouble with mags (Taurus and I don't know who), ammo feed. I didn't like the grips, but a $20 set of Hogues fixed that.

I'd rate the Taurus as better than the SA Mil-Spec. The upper end Springfields may be better. So far, I've been very pleased with the Taurus.

Figured that you never had any problems as you have never mentioned it ti me. Some dealers really get brand biased, possibly because of profit margin? Bought my V-10 used and it had Hogue grips on it and shortly after that the other 2 had those nice Hogue's on them also. Got some real nice wood grips just setting ther in the tool box I used when I was working. A nice big Kennedy.

It loads, fires and ejects if I make the bullets correctly. Shoots pretty well up to 25 yards. It does what I want.

Yep,know what you mean! Last fall was shooting my SA Loaded full size and it would fire a few and jam, the slide not returning fully to battery. Slide was very hard to pull back and extract the unfired round, problem was the ammo. Old man that loaded it though, a box of ammo was finished and threw it in a bag with some others. Turns out it had not been crimped at all. Problem solved, go home and run all of them through the crimping die again and they then worked fine.

The Taurus is a bit picky about OAL and crimping. Took me a while to figure that out.

I have found out that my full size SA Loaded Parkerized as SA calls it is particular also, more so that the Micro or the V-10. Don't know what bullets you use as far as setting OAL. I use a 200 grain LSWC and set them with .030 to .040 of the straight base of the bullet out of the case and crimp them to .468/.469. Got to the point at set up the die to crimp is to take the barrel of the full size gun and use it as a gage. When it drops in and the case is flush you have the proper crimp. What runs in that gun will run in any of the others.
How much snow did you get? Do you need Bear and I to come to the rescue with a keg of brandy or Jack Daniels? :) :) :)

Things I did today, and my thoughts of them.
1) got a purchase permit at the police station today (went smooth)
2) stopped at gander mountain to check out what they had in stock (limited guns in stock)
3) asked what shelf the 9mm ammo was on, and they just laughed at the question because they were all sold out. WT#$%^! ???
4) I did notice a "Beretta U22 Neos" 22lr pistol for $329. (hmmm, I have been looking for a backup 22lr pistol) any thoughts on this gun ???
5) I have also been looking for a 1911 pistol, but there are too many #$*%$ options to consider, and I have given up looking (temporarily, I would think).
6) I have caught another cold, 2nd in three weeks, and the weather in N. Detroit is a balmy 13 degrees, oh yea, the sun is out. Where's spring? I hate winter!!!

Hak, right now it is 17 degrees and I believe that is the high for today and yes it was sunny here also. Got a line from the Greener last night and they were having a big snow storm in Virginia. The Southern boys will really have problems with that. You got to get a CPL, that way you just walk in fill out the papers, give them the money and twke it home. Too eady to buy that way as many have followed me home on the spur of the moment. When you have to gwet apurchase permit it give you time to think.

Terrible blizzard here. We got about 10" of snow. Send Bear with the brandy! Closed down just about everything: government, schools, stores, restaurants (bars open), most business. 65000 without electricity. I showed up for work on time and was one of 6 folks who actually made it in. Last appreciable snow in Richmond was 2005. Frigid high of 27. What are we going to do?

H'man: The folks who have Neos like them. I've fired one. Wasn't bad, but it didn't kindle any excitement. Good second .22's are the S&W 22A, Buck Marks and another Ruger. Kaz can give you quite a sales job on the Buck Marks. My preference is Ruger by a ratio fo 4:1, I have 4 Rugers and one Buck Mark.

Pistol permit? You'll have to explain that. Us folks in VA just go buy one. And VA has a better Brady rating than Michigan, go figure.

Feel for ya my friend, no new snow here just damn cold, don't think it made it over 20 here today. That storm is about your average yearly snowfall isn't it. Got no Brandy but got Bear, Jack Daniels and a Montero with all wheel or four wheel drive.
If you have a CPL in Michigan like I do, we just walk in and buy just like you, especially them spur of the moment purchases for one you just got to have. A permit to purchase is for non CPL holders is good for 10 days I belive and give you time to talk yourself out of a purchase.

Yea Greener, it's a pain in the butt going to the police station and, what it seems like, beg for a permit to purchase. I just finished the NRA/cpl ceritfication class at my club, and am filling out the paperwork to apply for the cpl. Wow, that's alot of snow for a "southern state", I can imagine how that must flatten your neck of the woods. I work for the local electricity company, now 31 years, and I have helped frequently when we have mass outages. I do public safety prevention and house service restoration. "Don't touch any down wires please", and assume a down wire is always energized. You wouldn't believe what some people do with downed wires, they think they are invincible or something. Every now and then people get killed doing stupid things.
I like the price on the Beretta neo, and it does seem to get fair reviews. I do like the Ruger for it's quality construction and shooting ease. Our club has a "Gun show/swap meet" coming up this weekend, and that's why I got the permit. If I don't find something there, I'm going to Guns Galore and buying something, whatever I decide at the time.(could this be 1911 time ???) It should be interesting. I am also going to take a reloading class this month, I'm getting sick of the price, and availability of ammo. Right now, it's frick'n freezing out, but can't be as bad as the east coast. 'Spose to get up near 50 degrees later this week. This coming monday is daylight savings time "leap forward" and hour. For some reason, I thought it was later in the year?
thanks Greener and OM,
Righteo, Haka
