I'm gonna have to do some research on how to install the sights, any tips?
Also, is there any trimming (smithing) to do to the Hogue grips to get them on the Taurus just right?

As far as the grips just take out the screws and put them on, no matter what the name it is a 1911 before it is a Taurus. The sight will have to be driven outt of the dovetail from left to right, some may have a small rollpin in them to keep them centered. Good luck, remember to tap it briskly, its a GUN not a pic of CRYSTAL, you will not break it.
You have great day and shoot straight and may the Good Lord smile on you.

I want to see what ammo my Taurus 1911 will digest this weekend, so I purchased 50 rds of 185 gr semi wad cutter reloads. I guess I'll see how polished the feed ramp is? It looked pretty nice when I cleaned it the other day. How do "W/C's work for you in your 1911?

All of my 1911's run just fine on my handloads of 200 grain LSWC's with Alliant Green Dot.

I'm beginning to shoot 200 lswc's almost exclusively. They do pretty well and make nice round holes

With my limited experience with ammo, I talked to a reloader and he said people have the misconception of wanting fmj ammo instead of just lead, like the semi wc's I am going to try. He mentioned that lead is easier on the gun, especially the barrel then with a fmj round. Lead can be cleaned easier, but most of all doesn't wear on the barrel like copper coating? Most people still opt for the fmj for feeding concerns and cleanliness. That's why I am curious as to ability of the Taurus 1911 to handle the wc's.

I like that result too.

Hak, my man, you are never going to enjoy shooting that gun if you worry all the time. It's a 1911, and parts will interchange regardless of the name on the frame. My 2 short barrel guns shot 200 grain LSWC's with no problems, and short barrel 1911's have to do everything a full size gun does in 60 to 75% of the time. I doubt if you used all hardball that you would ever wear that gun out in your lifetime. I understand that some off the guns with I believe they call it, polygonal rifling need FMJ's as lead will slip as the lands do not have a sharp corn err, not for sure on that last statement.

I finally got the HiViz front sight on my "new-to-me" Taurus PT1911. After destroying the first sight, HiViz stepped up to the plate and gave me a replacement sight........free! Thanks to HiViz, it's nice to see customer service ''the way you'd like to see it". I also installed the Hogue Grips on "ole Betsy". I have shot 250 rds thru her, 100 of them semi wad cutters, and she hasn't even flinched. Feeds perfect, shoots great. (of course it would be hard for a rookie like me to tell one way or another).

Looking good, H'man. I think I like the Hi-Viz sight. May have to look into that replacement for my PT1911.
