Gander had a good sale on the LCR-38 ($75 off list) and LCR-357 ($150 off list, including a rebate). Sales are the only time Gander has a good price!
After a brief debate, I decided on the .357. $475 out the door for a $599 list gun ain't bad!
Deciding factors: Vesatility of a .357, though I may never shoot larger than .38+P. The stainless frame definitely preferred over aluminum. Heavier, but only by 2.7 ounces according to Ruger. Carpenter Stainless too, including the cylinder, which is what they use on the Alaskan. Cylinder walls are thicker than on the .38 model, though still heavily fluted.
I couldn't pass up that price, today is last day, and Gander only had two. I bought the "in the back" one.
After I cruised the ammo section, this will be a carry-only gun. At $21 to $35 a box, this won't be a fun gun, for sure. I couldn't believe some of the SD ammo running $25 for 25 rounds.
I guess now I'll have to change my user ID........
