I have dowels, a cleaning rod and some other minor stuff in my range bag for -pfft and not BANG events. If the gun doesn't sound or feel right, it is always a good idea to check it before firing.

I had a couple of those a while back ( my powder measure didn't like a powder I was using on my progressive press) "POP-THWACK" as the bullet was pushed out by a VERY light load the pop was the under charge and the thwack a little later was the bullet hitting the paper.....I stopped shooting those and quit using that powder.

I think on my shot I had a powder prblem too becuase I new what the gun did right away, w/out even looking at it. I've got a lot of time spent training w/ the gun. I think if it would have had some quality ammo in it, it would have engaged the hammer.
