SKS Assault rifle or Battle rifle?

Is a SKS considered a Assault rifle or a Battle rifle? I've heard many disagreements about this and to be honest I don't even know the difference. I own a SKS Paratrooper model and its a fairly good gun.

Not being selective-fire, that would make it a battle rifle.

I had one years ago and enjoyed it, but it was stolen and I never did replace it. Fun to shoot.

Thanks for clearing that up, Oh yeah they are really fun to shoot man. I take mine out to the range every weekend and waste about 200 rounds. Gotta be ready for the russians haha
